I wouldn't say he's slow but he's not fast. What I do think these clips show are positional awareness and body strength. He looks like one of them that folk often bounce off. When I played rugby league I hated tackling them. Somehow just had hard bones. Anyway, he uses his body very well in these clips.

My concern though is that he looks decent on these clips in a league two match up. Whether he has the speed of thought and reflexes to still do it at league one when he's had two years at league two is a big question mark.

Feels like a bit of a risk signing rather than a "yes, he can do it at league one still" signing

I see what you mean….That long dribble out of his own box wasn’t exactly slouchy as is his ability to block the runner in a subtle manner using body strength. Left footed as Dave pointed out earlier. Kelly May end up moving on or a really bit part player?

Decent signing imo, a proven leader and just had a decent season, Salford went into the last game with a chance of the playoffs, he is probably on sensible money too, if we are keeping our powder dry for other signings I'm all for it.

Carlisle got promoted and signed a load of expensive rubbish who didn't perform and look at them now, lets trust the club to make the right decisions on recruitment they know the bigger picture here.

To be fair to him, Salford fans on Facebook seem genuinely gutted that he's gone and are very complimentary, although there is reference to him talking himself into yellow cards. Looks like he had decent rapport with the supporters.

Not the most inspiring signing, but hopefully we might be pleasantly surprised.

Hope you are right. Not felt this good since we signed Ash.

If his manager was his mentor then gobbing off to refs is Robinson’s go to. Smallwood was no saint along with GA in that dept !

That's all that can be asked of any employee, let's see him in an Alexander formation before he's written off.

You know with a little research on various social media platforms you can make good or bad arguement to fit any said player, personally I prefer to judge them when they wear Claret & Amber.

    A view from Salford:

    https://oneupfrontsalfordcityfc.wordpress.com/2025/06/04/unbalanced-without-tilt/

This part is probably particularly relevant to the way we play "Karl had seen what a tangle Salford’s defenders were getting into by having to play out from the bar, so he removed this burden from them entirely. All he asked of the defence was to get the ball forward at the earliest opportunity, so the team could compete for the second ball and press high up the pitch. Now you’re talking Tilt’s kind of love language! Robinson also demanded an intense physicality from his team that must also have been music to Curtis’ ears"

Was hoping we would be signing players able to consolidate our L1 status then move us on up to challenge at the top
Whether this guy fits that criteria remains to be seen (I have my doubts)
As yet I don't see any of our squad capable of either consolidation or without additions a promotion push
Early days yet let's hope we are more impressed with any other signings

    I've read that.
It says to me he's going to be rotated and used against certain teams and styles.
Tough away games that need us to scrap and fight for every point ensuring we don't get into a relegation battle.
Build on what we are at the moment.

The lads write up seems pretty honest and well written. I feel a bit brighter now, especially as it appears he’s going to be the left of a back three, which means Kelly will play second fiddle or move to his level…L2.

The view from a Salford fan below which pretty much echoes most of the thoughts on this thread.

A good seasoned pro, leader on the pitch & around the club. Downside, he’s nearly 34 and got no pace. If that showed in L2 it will be targeted in L1. All depends on Bradford’s plans for him, a good signing for the squad player but wouldn’t think he’d be first choice at L1 level.

    Good luck to the lad.

Not willing to write him of before he has kicked a ball in anger.

I don't recall any of our defenders last season being blessed with any sort of noticeable pace. Maybe Shepherd perhaps? Even Crichlow wasn't that quick IMHO. So do we need pace or is this signing of what seems to be a quite physical chap what we need?

Dunno. Lets see how he fits in with the other summer signings.

How many players were shite for us but went on to play well for others and vice versa-it's a thing. Tilt might well be better suited to the way we play rather than Salford hoof ball.

Hope not Kev, the same article specifically warned against that.

"The problems start when he’s made to defend the wide channels, which can happen in two main scenarios. In a back four, he struggles if the left back pushes high up the pitch, as that leaves masses of space towards the left touchline for the opposition to target with channel balls. It’s the same story playing a three, as when used as the centre half playing wide on the left, he looks like a fish out of water".
