Not cricket World Cup news but through promotions at work, I have got myself accommodation, travel and a pair of tickets for the 5th test at the oval for The Ashes on the Saturday (Gosh I'll miss our trip to The Bescot .

I'll be honest, when I saw the sun was out this morning I feared for New Zealand. I thought the wicket might become a lot easier to bat on. However, the New Zealand bowling was exceptional.

I felt sorry for Jadeja, his innings was terrific.

I hope they work out a way to show the final on free TV.

I'm really glad that India are out, regardless of who ultimately wins. Very talented side but their commercial dominance of the game is getting too much. Good to see them knocked down a peg or two by the kiwis.

On the other hand, expect to see strong Indian lobbying to never hold international tournaments again in England because of the weather and pitches. Seen lots of comments to that effect from Indian fans.

Tough. You win the league stage so you get to play the fourth placed team in the semis, instead of the second or third. If you can't beat them that's your fault. That's how knockout tournaments work.

No doubt the Indian Board and their commercial backers will try to do whatever is necessary with the format to make sure India are in the next tournament final.

At work, but sounds like a brilliant start for England. I was dreading having to bat second, but what a start and platform Woakes and Archer have given us

 

Why should you get rewarded for finishing top? The rules were known at the start. He should know that the key was finishing in the top 4. He would not have been saying it if he had finished fourth so his statement is circumstantial. This is a knock out tournament. 40 mins of bad play affects all teams

 

I don't follow much cricket but is the India captain a complete tool?

 

He’s gods gift to the Indians, I’ve always found him to be a wet wipe. He should watch how a player who was blast better than him conducted himself by the name of Tendulkar, now there was a real Indian role model and a superior player.

 

Just need to get through the new ball without losing early wickets, not over yet but what a position to be in!

 

England must be favorites to go through now Aussies 4.5 per over a hard target to defend, especially with England's batting going right up to Plunkett/Rashid.
