Like the Salford free kick, its been a long time since I've seen City try anything like that, I believe McCall did one back in the Premier days against Arsenal ?, but yes it would soon be picked up.

Before that he did it at QPR away in 98/99 season when Ashley Westwood tapped it in after Blake(I think) mis kicked it.

Have we no one at training who could maybe suggest way of taking a different free kick, surely Hughes, Hodges & Co have seen plenty of different free kicks taken over the years.

I do think Manager's sometimes get a bit too precious about coaching. Set pieces are a crucial element of the game. We have got more goals and points due to our ability to be a threat from them. This is what gives me optimism. Hughes has proven to be pragmatic and flexible. It's as if he has chosen to be a bit more solid, less flair players and we are benefitting

I was there! Fantastic away win in our promotion run. Beags had their fullback on toast with peanut butter and jam all game. Yes, it was Blakey that shanked the original chance. I think Flash scored as well IIRC.

It was Easter time wasn't it. We were flying. We looked like we were going to score every single time we attacked in the period from December to the end of the season. Here's hoping for more seasons like that over the next decade.

Yes, it was April, I think. It was the only season since I've been watching City when I didn't get frazzled if we went behind. There were so many goals in that team I always believed we would equalise and then go on to win.

It came on the back of two poor results, a draw at Port Vale and the shock loss at home to The Dogs and was the result that got us back on track. Ipswich lost at home to Crewe that day so it gave us a fighting chance after we had fallen three points behind them. They lost away at Birmingham in the next match giving us a one point advantage going into the last match.
