In the highly unlikely event GSK started league games unless he was keeping a clean sheet every week the faithful would be on his back for every mistake. Pickford was criticised early in his spell IIRC and he’s turned out alright. Send him to Emley or Stalybridge and let him learn.

I've heard the same about young George Sykes-Kenworthy, if other bigger clubs fancy making an offer will he be here long enough to work his way up from the bench.

Well, I’ve read that tweet and I’m not convinced he means anything with the hashtag. He basically says it’s been a long and tough season and then adds the hashtags of the teams he featured for.

I do hope he stays though. Received far too much criticism from some and it was only because of the inept back-ups that people realised he was actually a solid keeper.

Yes he does make the occasional mistake, but tell me a keeper that doesn’t. Put another way (and I had this argument with many on C&B at the time), he saved us more points than he cost us.

If I recall correctly, his shot stopping at Dale was very good. However, the res of his game was poor. In particular, his defence didn’t appear to have confidence in him, he didn’t come for crosses and his kicking was awful

 

What was that game - his final nail - where he dropped one leading to a goal, let one under his body leading to a goal, and dived over one leading to a goal. Was never seen again after that.
Loved jumping around, but in fairness, I don't think I have seen anyone as bad between the sticks as him. And we HAVE had some shockers over the years.

 

Why did you have to remind us of that Wimbledon debacle? I know keepers will make howlers every now and again, but that was different class. In fact, I could safely say that I could have done that.

So I'd be happy if Doyle re-signs, either as a No. 1 or as back-up to a better one.

The comments are worth a read, for once. People rightly pointing out safety concerns. Reminds me a bit of the Flashdance scene in the Full Monty, with the 'dancers' critiquing the acetylene mix.

 

Jonny Mac is available. Always preferred duke myself but he’s certainly done ok for himself since he moved on
