Club Statement - Crowd Safety

The use of flares is generally triggered by the scoring of goals and moments of high drama in games.

So we're safe as houses.

 

Wait till they start banning us taking sleeping blankets and pillows in.

 

We're missing a trick. We should combine the big 'sleep in at VP' events we do with matchday. 2 birds, 1 stone.

 

Flasks need banning. Don’t wanna scald no poor fecker with red hot coffee.

 

Anyone who went to Leyton Orient this weekend and had to go through that check on the gate before you went into the ground which left many people queuing up outside after kick off can thank the No Pyro No Party crowd for everyone being treated as a potential suspect going forward.

 

That is likely just their club policy and is carried out every game rather than increasing checks for us specifically

 

Almost certainly as checks are routine at every London ground I've been to.

 

Speaking to many Orient fans that’s the norm...a mate managed to smuggle a hip flask of whiskey in which helped warm the cockles and numb my senses from the game.

I'm pretty sure this will be alluding to the Bradford fan who apparently received correspondence from the club in relation to social media posts. Hard to make an objective view without knowing the context of the posts but a very interesting discussion and comments on the above twitter thread.

 

I think cold flares will be the way to go, yoof want to have a good time at the football and rightly so IMO, don't like safe cold flares then too bad.

I see St Etienne fans are in trouble again, looks flippin ace, way to go if you are 0-4 down at home.

 

I have no feeling toward flares either way but the article does hit on a good point regarding atmospheres at premiership grounds. Just watching Chelsea Spurs, might as well be at the cinema, everyone sat down all very regimental and rather dead. There's very little going on in the crowd with way the game has been sanitised in this country, when you go abroad as i have a few times the atmosphere is completely different.

 

It is, the English (not UK) game has been monetised and so, as you say, sanitised. Yet on here and previously on C&B it's as if some have long since forgotten what it was like to be young. My lad had to sit with me till 19 twiddling his thumbs, whilst I migrated to the Bradford End at 12/13. Personally I'd give the flag block kids a say AND MONEY to improve atmosphere.

Why do Flares keep getting mentioned? I've not seen a Flare used once. Seen Smoke bombs let off but no Flares. Totally different item.
