City's Promotion Rivals - The Other Matches

No messing about tomorrow,we’ve got to go for it.

 

Great result.

Stockport are away at Sutton next, Salford are at home to Leyton Orient. Got to think one of the two will fail to win.

Two wins against Grimsby and Crawley, which surely we can do, will put us in a very decent position.

 

Start the game fast with all the players on that can hurt Grimsby.
Establish a lead in the game and when it’s over as a contest, take players off.
Don’t wait until the 70th minute at 0-0 trying to force a win.

 

Orient play Carlisle tomorrow, AND Northampton face Stevenage.

A couple of draws in those games will be massive IF we can win.

If we draw against Grimsby, I'll be worrying about our chances of reaching the play offs, never mind hunting down the autos.

 

Why was it meaningless?. Two of our rivals playing each other surely means the opposite

 

Bots is right in that if we don't take all 3 points today, last night's result is pretty much irrelevant. There's been a few occasions this season where other results have gone favourably for us and we've failed to take advantage so unless we change that today, yesterday's result will be rather meaningless.

 

Totally disagree. All matches involving our promotion rivals are relevant in my opinion.

Of course. Not sure what there is to disagree about though. We win today, it was a great result for us, we draw or lose, it's another massive opportunity missed - opportunities that we are fast running out of.

 

There's been many times other's results have gone for us and we've not taken advantage. It's almost boring now. Let us win first and then we can look at what others have done.

Exactly this. Let's concerntrate on what we can do and gets as many points on the board as possible. If others above us and around us drop points then that's a massive bonus, but only if we are winning our own games.

Results this weekend have been great. Many twists and turns but a real opportunity exists

 

There'll be all kinds of twists and turns and bizarre results. It always goes down to the last five games, sometimes even fewer. All we can do is give our all in every game and fight for every point. This season looks particularly tight.

 

It’s what we do that counts. The rest …..?

 

Although it would be nice to think we can win our remaining games, would that absolutely guarantee promotion? I think a few of the others dropping points at appropriate times will ensure it.
Anyway, autos it is

 

In fairness of course it’s great when the challengers drop points, however we need not to be one of them dropping points. We have shed enough against “ lowly” opposition. If only we hadn’t TB?

 

Just had a glance at next Fridays fixtures and once again we are given an opportunity to really stamp our mark in the promotion race, Salford v Orient and Stockport at Sutton are the 2 that jump out obviously, but Northampton at Newport and Mansfield at Swindon are also tough games for our promotion rivals. This season is ridiculously tight and no gaps are appearing anywhere, so if we can somehow open up a gap and cement our play off place it could ease a bit of pressure on our players enabling us to go for it more in the run in.
