I'd agree in principle but too much back to front stuff.

We don't help ourselves at times.

Playing out from the back at this level is dumb as hell.

Every now and then we might release a full back and get a run on their midfielders down the wings, but more often than not we end up with one of our defenders lumping it under pressure RATHER than O'Donnell launching it directly under NO pressure.

We are nowhere near good enough to play out from the back, IMHO, but then our strikers are nowhere near strong enough to win long balls either.

 

A good summary. Most frustrating for myself was not converting one of back post corners. Walsall just couldn't defend them and we should really have taken advantage.

 

The real frustration is: we knew what we needed up front, we knew we were lacking in having any sort of quality out wide - and we didn’t address it. With just 2 quality additions we’d have a shot at promotion.

 

If he doesn't boot it straight into the stands, how many time when OD launches it does it actually get picked up by one of our players?

How many times do any of our long balls played by anyone get picked up by one of our players?

I'd still rather the kick was taken by a keeper under no pressure per the law of the game than a clumsy L2 defender being chased down by an opposition forward.

 

Tbh, I'm not overly enthused at the season so far but with the exception of Harrogate, I ain't seen a team yet to really fear

I do believe we don't shoot enough. We need to shoot more.

 

Pretty average game and think a draw just about fair. Great strike for their goal but very sloppy to allow Nurse to have the freedom of the pitch to create the chance and O'Donnell should've got closer to it.

Never really got any fluidity to our passing but credit goes to Wallsall for not allowing us to. They were very lucky to not get someone sent off (why was that?) and but for a great save from their keeper we could've come away with 3 points.

I just wish we had more attacking options but this is what we're stuck with. Our attacks have such hesitancy when it needs someone to pull the trigger with that instinct to shoot. Perhaps Evans back in will give us more teeth.

Yeah i thought it looked like he got clattered but well after he'd fluffed his chance

 

Not for me either. But I thought their lad should’ve seen red as last man shortly after.
