Pretty sure we'll not have insurance for an injury that isn't career ending.
His pay for the next 12 months will already be built into the footballing budget costings.

More than 48 hours and still no public apology from the steps of City Hall? Disgusting.

Nothing from his dad either, this sours everything that the 2012/13 team he played in achieved.

I’m not sure anyone is suggesting court action but there has been precedent, very close to home as you rightly suggest. Did Gray for example admit to deliberately breaking Watsons leg? No clearly not, There are protocols that businesses follow on behalf of their employees, and that is to “protect the business from potential litigation “ , you bet ya Donny and the player will follow them. Deliberate, accidental, dangerous and wreckless cannot be decided by public opinion. That’s how it should remain. I certainly don’t believe for one second he meant to hurt anyone. That’s not the point, just as in causing death by dangerous driving as Rod(?) mentioned earlier , the intent doesn’t have to be proven…but the wrecklessness and likelihood of severity of injury of such actions does, which by outcome, should be relatively easy especially if it’s career ending perhaps?
Let the club / player and legal people decide . Non of us are experts at the end of the day . I just hope the lad recovers quickly and resumes his career.

I’m not sure of the current rules-can the FA overturn the yellow and change it to a red?

I don’t believe so. It could be retrospective if the ref took no action…but he did , albeit the wrong one in most peoples eyes . I would check but I think not , there again I could be way wrong.

I'll be honest I don't know how insurance works but I'd have thought there would be some sort of plan in place in case you lose a player for a matter of months. Maybe they do higher up the league's where the money is more available.

All players are insured even amateur ones I believe.?The level of cover will likely be variable RT .

Here you go. Googled it and it is in line with my recollection.
Do Footballers Get Paid the Same When Injured?

Usually, yes. It would have to be an extremely long-term injury to prevent them being paid their full salary while sidelined.
All professional footballers in England are entitled to 18 months’ pay while injured before there is a chance that their salary will be cut, or even halved.

    Are Footballers Insured Against Injury?
Yes; generally, clubs insure all of their football players in the event of an injury, given how much they’re worth as assets to the clubs.
This insurance helps cover the players’ salaries when they can’t play through illness or injury.

To be honest Ravenhills response immediately after the tackle doesn't sit doesn't sit well with me. Normally when you see that sort of thing and it's accidental the player causing the injury doesn't react like he did. He was even petulant when he got subbed. Even though I don't think he meant to injure him so badly I still think he followed through like that intentionally to leave a bit on Paddy.

Having only read the first 36 pages of this thread, does everyone still think VAR is garbage?

Is he injured again? Pretty sure he wasn't in Lincoln's match day squad on Saturday.

yeah I thought they did Rod. Just like insuring any asset I guess, and with football being so unpredictable like Saturday where injuries can occur at any time it seems a given that you'd need to cover that risk.

I suppose one of the issues for the club, is do they try and sign someone as a replacement, as Osadebe’s salary should/could be covered.

I wonder what the EFL/FA rules are in respect of the number of senior players, in the event of such an injury?

It's hard enough when those watching the VAR monitor can't make the call and ask the referee to watch a replay imagine if VAR did the same with regards red of yellow cards.
Back in the day there were players who did go in to let the opposition know they weren't going to get an easy ride we all know the hard men of yester year, but players played week in week out even during those days of hatchet men, the art of tackling is a thing of the past, not that I'm suggesting Harris, Giles, Hunter, Dicks or Bonds etc were angels.
