Great debut from Tomlin! His manager will have loved him for that and will want to play him ever onwards. What a xxxxxxx jerk. And he's 33, no spring chicken.

    Agree.

We're missing Vernam. Someone to carry the ball forward (OK, Osadebe and Sutton do this) but also to beat a man. It looks like Chapman is the only player have that can do that.

I agree Oliver put himself about but had little goal threat their CDs won most balls.

He does have a fair bit of timber for a proper fit professional footballer. Don't think McSheffrey will be buying his take-away tonight!

Massive amount of possession, I'd nearly doubt it. But the stats are the stats.

I'll take encouragement from that from opening day and be confident of results against supposed poorer teams to come.

Sutton , sorry looked slightly out of his depth out wide on this occasion when in reality we needed two wide players exploiting the touchline gaps . He didn’t provide the effective outlet.

The forwards didn’t get any service from the out wide open spaces. Their journeymen centrebacks proved an effective barrier going down the middle. If we were below par at anything today it was balls in from the flanks….usually over hit or to the keeper.

Crichlow was absolutely spot on today. Timi will have a job displacing him if Romeney continues to play like this.
For me, Sutton didn't look fully match fit. Seemed to be struggling to get on the front foot.

So was Cook benched for any known reason? I had him down as a starter in front of a 3

Disagree. I think he's not yet fully match fit. We should have played Cook from the start who currently looks as fit as a butcher's dog.

Think people are being too critical of the team and not the abysmal shithousery from donny and the shite reffing.

Imagine if one of your best mates got his leg snapped, the guy who did it gets no punishment and then you have to do your job to the full immediately after. Yes its disappointing but not a game people should be judging the season on. Or player performance for that matter.

I couldn't believe Donny continued to stick to their game plan right up to the last minute when they played those two short corners when it was clearly most likely the last passage of play of the game and with half the team on the pitch being 6ft defenders they still didn't go for the win by lobbing in a cross from the corner.... Came for the draw and celebrated at 90mins like they'd won the league

Agree Fordy. The cogs aren't grinding together all around the pitch yet. Defensively, the back five looked sound. Smallwood and East were good - twas the other four who weren't connecting and playing well enough off one another, mistiming runs, thoughts and connections. Hence, no goals today. Hey ho, first point on the board against Dirty Diving Donnie - we'll have to get used to that at VP.

    My take on it
Ref was shocking doesn’t matter how early it in the game a reds a red but hey get used to this sort of poor officials nothing changes :(
As for the game I ain’t gonna get to much into it it’s the first game would have took a point pre game tbh I honestly thought Donny would have more about them
We are one game in start looking at the bigger picture 10 games down the line

Doncaster were cynical to the max. And yes, you're right. If the ref Madden is trying to make a successful switch from Scottish League to EFL, he made a bloody poor start of it. The Ravenhill leg-breaker was an instant red card, bolted-on. He bottled it big time.
