Match Thread Chorley vs City (Pre-season game 1)

Then we should play to win and stop ripping our own fans off or come clean and tell us in advance that the result and performance isn’t important.
Reminds me of the BPA friendly last season when they played all the kids plus Jake Young.

 

Certainly with regards the BPA fixture most realise the team will not be made up of first teamers the times I've attended have been to attend a game of football after 10 weeks of boredom .

 

Whilst being unhappy at having nailed my colours, I still have clarity of mind to see that there had been no improvement from last season.
Underwhelming and uninspiring signings.
Sparks and Rupp getting away with it yet again.

I think it was fairly clear the game was a friendly.

Ie, not competitive.

Any fan unable to work it out deserves to be parted with their money

 

Unfortunately our team seem to approach most of our games with this mindset.

 

Ha ha perfect. Chorley away in a pre-season friendly-who would want to attend that game thinking it was going to be a season defining event.

I like the photo in T&A, a couple of lads having a beer watching the game. If only I could do that! A summer day, a little bit of sun, a couple of beers watching the lads get beat by some non-league outfit. The sort of thing I miss about not being able to watch cricket at Undercliffe.

 

I believe you know me better, I was going to put a winky in but you always reply in a civilised manner, just a feeling this coming season could be a good one, but I say that at the start of every season .

 

Very civilised mate although I'm not sure of how much cricket is getting played it seems to have rained most of this summer so far, I think we hit a high of 15 degrees today, then again if your watching it through the club windows with a beer in your hand that's great..

 

Feel free to provide a list of clubs that would happily host us with free admission for fans while they fork out all the costs.

I'll save you the trouble though, there isn't one.

 

The point is if they want friendlies to be well attended then give people a reason to do so, stop ripping folk off then hiding behind the ‘it’s all about fitness’ bollox.
I didn’t go to Chorley but I was planning to attend a few others including Sunderland but unless the manager and players can be arsed then I won’t be arsed either.
Roll on the first league game when hopefully they’ll give a shit.

You can't really expect a full first team going full pelt to win the first friendly after 6 days. Surely you've seen enough football to know what friendlies are all about. As long as we build up to being ready to hit the ground running and with Alexander knowing his starting 11, then I'll be happy. If he doesn't know his formation or is changing it after 15 minutes in the first game, then I'd consider preseason to be a mismanaged failure.

 

Absolutely nobody is forcing you to attend. If you aren't happy with how preseason works, don't go.
