Match Thread Chorley vs City (Pre-season game 1)

There's a difference between being fit, and up to match fitness.

Not arsed about today in the slightest.

Fine, but you'll find managers do say its all about fitness and nearer the start of the season formations, win or lose.

 

I disagree on pre season results don't matter. The pre season results from last season I could tell we would have problems in the change of formation and new players like Taylor. This is our first pre season game of the season and we shouldn't take to much from this result and performance. The players have just started kicking the ball last week and hopefully our next competitive game we should step up a gear(I hope) but I did notice one of our players last week abit chunky(Sarcevic)

 

I also wasn't happy with last preseason and was critical of Hughes for not giving us an easy friendly. The lack of goals in tough friendly games was followed by a lack of goals in competitive games too.

And I supported Hughes. But that was an oversight.

Confidence is hugely important going into a new season.

 

One of this biggest clubs in Lancashire, away from home. Come on guys that’s not a bad result, we’re truly on the up.

 

Still can't defend for toffee I see. Red flag.

 

Maybe some of our happy clappers can give it a rest for a while.

If you believe in this why then, were Chorley presumably fitter than us ?

I don’t think it’s lack of fitness but a combination of lack of match sharpness and a bit of a hotch pot team in both halves. Alexander has had them doing double sessions all week and said himself they normally wind down training for match day but not in this first week of training. Chorley had already played a game and won 5-1 so they probably were a lot sharper than us and we will have been a bit leggy. Our pre season is geared up for five weeks today at MK Dons.

 

Double sessions and we're not sharp enough to compete. Leggy in the first pre season friendly against Chorley FFS?. A good proportion of those players could be starting they should be embarrassed!

If you're worried about the result of the first preseason game you need to re-evaluate your life. It's just a run out to get miles in the legs of returning football players, nothing more or less.

 

Listen im one negative bastard but anyone getting all upset about a run around needs there heads testing ............had we won today then what ??????? We suddenly become nailed on for the title.

Its a pre season friendly the first one where the whole aim is fitness and not getting any injuries................

 

We aint even started the season yet and they are already getting pulled to bits ...............god forbid we dont win our first 10 games or GA will be on his way and the cycle goes on.

I didn't even know we'd lost, means little to me these warmup games. Lose every one for me. As long as we hit the straps come the first game that's when the season starts.
