Danny Cowley is a poor choice.

Doesn't even play the same formation, he's a 4-4-2 merchant.

    Leam Richardson is my choice.

In fairness they've only had two jobs since.

At Huddersfield they took over with the team rock bottom having taken one point from their first seven matches. Their remit was to keep The Terriers up and they succeeded in doing that. Their reward was to be sacked forty-eight hours later.

The Pompey squad last season was not the one currently topping the table. John Mousinho had a much more generous budget this summer than the Cowleys enjoyed in any of the three windows when they were in charge. Despite that Portsmouth were unbeaten in their first nine matches last season winning six of them. Sadly once injuries struck the team hit the skids leading to an inevitable sacking for the brothers. But even then they left Pompey in tenth place in League One.

I make no bones about it I've followed the careers of the Cowleys since the day they left Braintree. Their failure at Fratton Park cost me a pretty penny. But I remain convinced they are an outstanding management team and I'm sure they will have learned a lot from their experience at Portsmouth.

I believe Danny Cowley is head and shoulders above any other probable candidate and very much hope he and his brother will be the next management team at Valley Parade.

So what happens if the DOF choice is a failure and brings in an unsuccessful head coach and a style of football not appreciated and the plan fails. A new head coach is recruited again the style of football is poor and there is a bust up between the two. The theory that a DOF is somehow a panacea is a fancy

I think last time we discussed Danny Cowley, he was ruling out any jobs in League Two or lower, so it's probably irrelevant.

The strategy to bide time until the right job comes along has paid off with big opportunities at Huddersfield Town and Portsmouth.

I imagine they wait again until a League One side approach.

But I still wouldn't go for them, as Danny Cowley is not a natural successor and the idea of playing 4-4-2 with our current squad is the stuff of nightmares.

He's been out of work for nine months now. I don't think they will want to wait much longer having reportedly missed out on a couple of vacancies, most recently the Charlton job.

Bradford City is a fantastic opportunity right now. Yours is a club struggling way below where its size and support warrants. Bradford City is a far more attractive proposition than any current League One club with the exception of Derby County. I always feel there is a right time and a wrong time to take over at any club. Any ambitious manager, and I'm sure Danny Cowley is one, should see the prospect not only of leading Bradford City into League One but within a couple more seasons challenging for promotion to The Championship as very appealing.

I believe Bradford City and the Cowleys would be a marriage made in Heaven; and you've had enough ending in ugly divorce over the last seven years.

‘Ultimately, for us, it’s just trying to find a club that I think is self aware enough to know where it is today, has a clear vision of where it wants to go and I think once you know the start point and the destination then, you know whether you can come in and affect and influence and then hopefully help that club.

Unfortunately for us, knowing where we are and where we want to go beyond "Championship please!" ain't our strong suit as a club...

442 isn't a million miles removed from our current 4231.

Change Walker for Smith and you're there!

Early days, but Smith looks more of a forward than a winger. He might play wide on a 4-3-3, but I'm not saying a traditional winger there.

Yeah I agree, he's not necessarily a traditional forward but does look better through they middle than wide. I also just didn't think we were as far away from a 442 as you stated.

I also don't agree that it's necessarily the way forward with this squad either though as we'd certainly need more striking options if we wanted to play two up top.

'A clear vision of where it wants to go'. Well FFS Danny lad, don't come to Bradford. Most of our lot are just happy to have a club to support, we could be Scunthorpe.

Just realised Steve Cotterill is still out of work. He was on the short odds last time around (I know its nothing to go by).

An imidiate improvement would be made if we took out the old and slow heart of the defence, 2 quicker CHs one our choice of the 2 slow CD would improve things

Agree. Have never seen the appeal of Wild.

He's done okay at small clubs with little expectation.

His team sit just 2 points ahead of us this season and finished below us last season.

From all accounts, a very defensive minded manager.

I would rather stick with Hughes

It’s about the individual and his character. Parky Managed Colchester before us who at the time had the lowest gates in the football league.

Richardson is a good shout and not one I'd considered. Darren Moore was my pipe dream but obviously that won't happen now so I really didn't have anyone in mind till I read that shout.

Are we now a toxic club? Who is going to want to come to a “sacking club” ? When the problems are much deeper than the manager?

The nature of football management in that there are only 92 possible vacancies says that however toxic we are there will be lots of interest. In any case, a manager failing, has a ready made excuse to effectively wipe it from his CV.

I don't think anyone can argue you deserve to be sacked if you have this club 18th in League 2.
Any Manager looking at the opportunity must think 'I can do better than that'.
