Charlie talks us through the defibrillator he's had fitted to his torso, enough to frighten the living daylights of of most people.

“He won’t be playing for anyone anytime soon” Source Wigan FC April 2023. Why do we fall for this rumour . Anyone seen the pics of the defibrillator at the side of his chest. Not a great idea in a contact sport? I feel for the guy.

 

Yeah, I hadn't seen that video before but I'm not sure how he'd be able to play as he is?

 

Remember the Charlie Wyke returning here rumour on here. Well,never likely I know, but it would have been a shrewd move if happened and allowed to play to his skills. Scored 5 in Wigan's four league outings so far. And scored their only goal and winner in the EFL cup too.

 

We never keep the good ones.

 

Shouldn't be playing at League Two level, so I'm happy he's playing higher. Even after his health problems he shouldn't be here.

I think the rumours were just that he's one of the 3 strikers City fans have ever heard of: Billy Sharp and Nahki Wells are the other 2 haha

 

I didn't realise it was that bad wow ... every time he runs or heads a ball he must be terrified

 

Charlie Wyke went off injured after 30 mins of his first friendly this evening. Not sure the extent, but hope he is okay.

I do get the feeling he won't play full 90 minutes so often for Carlisle though whatever it may be this evening.

 

Went off with concussion from by all accounts a terrible high challenge.

He's rarely played 90 since coming back, think it was 7 times he completed a game last season? Although he was on a limited training plan too at Wigan but no idea if that was a club plan or a necessity for the player. If he's only half training, how fit will he be even at full fitness?

 

Actually, reading twitter as it happened every Carlisle fan was saying that it was a nasty high challenge or head high challenge and a concussion test happened etc .... then their manager came out and said they had to take him off because he got a cut to his shin?.... so F knows.

 

Talking of injury and slightly off track, I see Charlie Wyke lasted 32 minutes for Carlisle last night before limping off in distress

 

Let's hope it's just pre season fitness but it was always a gamble with regards Charlie coming back to Valley Parade.

 

Injuries happen in football. Nothing to do with his heart.

Anyway, signed for a top L2 side, not the NL which you predicted.

 

Out for the season.

Gotta feel for him, I wish him all the best with his recovery.

He came back after 15 months out last weekend and tonight he has confirmed he will retire in the summer, after a hellish last few years with health and injury issues.
