Was it dull when the likes of Liverpool and United where doing it during the 70s,80s, 90s and 2000s ?????

How many of them title win from United and Liverpool went down to the wire ???? Just a few at best ............ least City over there course of wins have sent it down to the wire on 4 out of there 6 wins one of them being the most dramatic in PL history.

Still thats the media for you if they aint pulling the charges up they are now going the dull route............couldnt recall the same being aimed at United during there dominace.

We all know what its down the media crave a red shirted team to win the league just to please a bunch of gloryhunters and sadly for them City aint allowing it to happen.

Yeah, and that long period of United dominance under Ferguson was boring too. Although their playing styles were very different. I found Fergie’s teams to be generally more exciting and watchable than the relentless choking that Man City inflict on most opponents.
I just don’t like it when one team or player dominates - Steve Davis, Stephen Hendrie, Tiger Woods, Pete Sampras. Michael Schumacher etc etc. I much prefer it when there’s real competition for top spots and trophies get shared around, like in the 60s and 70s when league titles and FA Cup winners changed hands nearly every season.

Agree I always looked forward to watching United on TV back in the day under Busby, they had a great side both before Munich and after, the likes of Law, Charlton and Best dictated play it would be a stupid manager who would not allow them to show their talents.
I have to say I'm not a lover of the modern game especially the way most teams are trying to copy Barcelona during Peps time their unfortunately it looks like its the way forward as we know even Hughes tried it with us and it certainly is the way Williamson wants MK Dons to play even though trying to play it has seen them get spanked a few times, if it was Alexander fans would be screaming for a plan "B".

Yes, it absolutely was dull when first Liverpool and then Man U dominated for long periods. It’s got sod all to do with the media, for me, it’s my perception I’m bothered about.

I started watching football in the early 60s and it was so much more open then. Between the seasons ending in 1960 and 1972 there were ten different winners of the old Division 1 title and eleven different FA Cup winners. I know those days are gone and won’t be coming back but it was a hell of a lot more interesting than having long periods of PL domination by one club and two of the same four or five clubs in the FA Cup Final nearly every year.

And the likes of the FA Cup were taken seriously by every team that played in it, for the likes us lower league teams it was the highlight of the season in many cases, sat around the radio on a Monday lunch I believe ?, listening to the 3rd round draw and who we'd drawn, hoping for the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Spurs, and even Leeds who were a big club back in the day.

We’re talking ridiculously hypothetically here but eventually, yes, I think it would. Obviously it would take a very long sustained run of success to get to that point though.
I have a very good mate who has supported Man City all his life. He recently admitted that the excitement of winning has largely gone, because it’s happening so often.
