Central midfield

I think these responses show it shouldn't be an area of concern as there are plenty of options to cover if needed. We're never going to have perfect back up for every position. We're a league 2 team not man city

 

Yeah, there are back up players - they might not be ideal, but it is what it is.

AOC could potentially deputise for Levi, but not for Watt. If Watt were to be injured, it would have to be Cooke moving back, in which case we've got plenty of people to fill in behind Rowe/Novak/Cook.

 

TBF over the last few games I have seen Sutton has done just that. Its Watt that concerns me in general drifts in and out of the game.

 

I'm not as worried as I was about the suspensions. He has definitely reined it in a bit since his last red card.

 

Wow, players are so talented these days, they get to pick and choose the severity of their injuries? I don't think ANY footballer wants to miss ANY games, but sometimes injuries happen, and sometimes recovery doesn't go the way it should.
Fingers crossed they stay fit, but believe me, it's definitely not up to them to decide if their hamstring pings or not.

 

Disagree. I think there were players under mccall who, shall we say, exaggerated their injuries

Watt is our most creative players though that through ball to Cooke on Saturday was worth the iFollow money on its own

 

JOB was good though and our best form that season was December when he really drove the team. As soon as he left, we were knackt

 

I agree he's got a decent pass on him but he's also playing as our holding midfielder and can get caught out positionaly at times. That's why I'd still like I'd to bring in an experienced holding midfielder to both give genuine competition and for the younger lads to work with.

 

ah, I didn't know we were talking about cheating. I'd like to think that Sutton and Watt wouldn't do this, as they are professionals. But I get yours and @1975citygent point now. Sad if it's the case doing that to the great man. You'd never catch him doing that during his playing days. What was that match, where Macca got knocked on the head, and then had to ask the ref which way he was playing. Scotland I think.

 

I agree! I've been banging on about this for weeks. He's got the makings of a great player, but he'd come on so much more if there was someone in the first team in that position who is more experienced. I've seen Watt spray some nice Hollywood balls around the park, but I've also seen him dreadfully exposed and out of position, and I've also seem him jump in for a tackle, got sat down, and let the attacking player have the entire final third to think about which corner of the net to put it into. He doesn't seem to communicate with our centre backs as well as he should either.
Don't get me wrong - he's doing a job, but I just think it's such an important position, we'd really benefit from a player who is a bit more experienced in that role.

 

But they won’t be fit and will be out of work for a reason........now where have I heard that before?

Not going to name names, but quite a few who dipped in and out and didn't look comfortable in the 3/5/2

 

Has to be said it's sometimes the default move of the player who's unhappy at a club and keen to leave - but also wants to continue pulling his wage.
