No chance then. But we need that type. I’m not saying we will get someone of any ability but you look at when Van dijk went to Liverpool and they used to concede soft goal after soft goal. They had him to organise and build a defence around and on they have gone.

If we could get another Andrew Davies type player at the back, that would be a massive step forwards. Hopefully DH has an idea on this, but we may have to limp through to January if there are no free agents.

There are problems with this lad and are not football related, it's been well documented in the media.
You never know if you don't inquire, the lad certainly has quality would he come to City for the salary we would offer who knows but if there was a possibility of getting him financially I don't think he nessesarily pick Wigan.
They are going well under Cook and would he get game time something he obviously wants without doubt he would coming to us.
I dont think it will happen but we maybe could test the water who knows everyone said when Andrew Davies went back to Stoke after his spell on loan under Parky there was no chance he'd return with what we'd pay, yet he came and was a great singing and servent to our club.

Sometimes problems can be got past. Look at Lennon a t Burnley at the minute. Had a blinder yesterday and has well documented mental health problems.

But I agree he’s what we need. Where was he before? Kilmarnock? Can’t have been on great money in SPL unless you’re at the big two

Not so much what I think more to reiterate the virtually impossible task the way we are currently. It would take a monumental change of fortunes to even approach the play offs even if top teams went into melt down acca Exeter when we did the impossible.

Dundee. Depression is something to monitor but shouldn't be a blocker. Kee is performing. plus how many players perform who aren't even diagnosed. could well be an option. lot of pressure on him though. he may prefer Wigan

Who'd have thought we'd be calling that progress Bronco?

Maybe he is learning, I sincerely hope so.

Remember him marking Rooney out of the game in a qualifier at Wembley in 2011 or 12 i think. Bit of a wasted talent if you ask me.

Quote from Neil McCann the Dundee manager with regards Caulker :

Dundee boss Neil McCann has explained the club’s thinking behind the decision to release defender Steven Caulker.
The former England man cut short his Dens stay when his contract was cancelled just before Friday night’s transfer deadline.
It meant the 26-year-old left for free just months after a £1.2 million bid from Norwegians Rosenborg had been rejected.
For the Dark Blues, though, it appears to have been a case of cutting their loses and allowing a player who no longer wanted to be with them to go.

“When a player decides that he doesn’t want to be here and he wants to leave and try other challenges then you can’t hold someone prisoner,” said Neil.

“He is contracted to the club until the summer but he was strong in that he wanted to go.

“He’s the type of character that I’m trying to weigh up is it best for the club to keep someone who maybe wants to move to another challenge.

“Does it become an influence in the dressing-room that we don’t need?

“We talked to him, he said he just wanted to go then the club took the decision and that was right.

“We would have loved some money for him. He was on a big, big wage here for this club.

“When he took the decision that he wanted to go we managed to go out and strengthen that department.”

Caulker only joined up in February as a free agent.

However, after initially doing well and helping with the bid to avoid relegation last season, has not been a regular starter this term.

I'm not sure Caulker was ever on it mate just a name thrown around possibly more out of hope, but an inquiry wouldn't go a miss, bearing in mind he's still only 26 and has resale value if he performs.

Especially if Rosenberg were only recently in with a bid for him over a million

That's the strange thing about his situation if as Neil McCann said Rosenberg had a £1.2 million bid rejected why doesn't Caulker speak directly to Rosenberg now he's a free agent with not contractual ties ?.

Maybe with his state of mind doesn’t want to go to Norway and live and work probably on his own for the majority of the time?

Yes very fair comment, the last thing you need with depression and the likes is to have no one around you giving you support although sometimes that's the last thing you think you need.
