That’s why I like Parky. Gets players in who can make an immediate impact and get out of the division as quickly as possible. If we were mid table in league one then I could see the need for “potentials” to supplement an established squad. Parky’s blueprint should be pretty easy to follow but our CEO can’t see it, yet we as fans have a pretty good idea of what’s needed.

neither was Doyle, he just had a manager who didn't understand how he played.

    You beat me to it.
Doyle and Vaughan were both badly misused as target men.
And Donaldson could have done a good job for us as a No 10. He had a couple of cracking games there before we binned him off. That passing ability must have been obvious in training, so why did we wait so long to use it?

Exactly , and they are cheaper and attractive for the younger player. Protects everyone.

Those players cost money these days…You only have to look at the Jan window across the ENTIRE EFL. Only the Hollywood free pass brings that. Nothing to do with the CEO , it’s down to the owner unwilling to invest.
If the money isn’t there how on earth can any club in the division buy players with the quality of 1 or 2 divisions higher.

I don’t think Lawn and Rhodes pumped massive amounts in and look how we did. What they focused on was the first team squad and buying/bringing quality into the dressing room. What we have is an owner/CEO spreading the income too thinly across the board. Clubs with smaller budgets have left us standing. It’s how it’s spent that counts and Parky knows how to spend it wisely.

Unfortunately talented managers who can do that are few and far between.

They had the fortune on the grass, bar Stockport and Wrexham, they have all done it without money. So did we with Parky. The wheel of fortune, then it all comes crashing down as success on the green stuff wained because money wasn’t / isn’t available to sustain it. Our time will come but as others frequently suggest, one off success is useless without funding to support further progression. ie We can get promoted but we cannot afford to sustain it without continual success and or investment. Precisely what Stockport’s “plan” contains if it’s read in the proper context.

Rowe had plenty of ability, certainly good enough to be a football league player.

What he lacked was the desire and hunger, he just didn't want it enough.

    What PARKINSON focused on.

Lawn (and Rhodes) had plenty of hare brained schemes with development squads/RIASA/Montegnee before Parkinson came along and dug them out of the hole they'd got the club into.

While things like long term strategies, development setups and football identity throughout the club sound great, in reality Parkinson's approach when he was here is the best chance we have of getting out of league 2. Players with character and leadership skills who can handle the expectation as well as play a bit.

Lawn cut every expense and employees and run the club on a shoestring for one overriding reason, To give Parky the biggest budget he could regarding the player squad, Unlike Sparks who seems to see support staff as important as the players to employ
