What if Halliday gets a bad injury after the window closes, or he has a poor pre-season?

I don't think for one minute it's a waste of his and our time signing him.

We need good cover and competition for each position in my opinion.

Johnson's versatility could prive to be very valuable.

Yes and so is Platt and so is Oggy . That’s what this division brings . NC fans probably detest the fact he’s turned them down, as a result I I don’t bring any weight to their opinion until I see him play.

 

Platt was part of a defence that conceded 59 goals last season, Baldwin played in a defence that conceded 86. One of them appears to be considerably more error prone than the other.

 

At this level some players play better in different formations and different players around him. We still need to strengthen our midfield which will also strengthen the whole team. Let’s wait and see, ignore the data for the time being.

 

I want him to do well don't get me wrong, but this feels like a downgrade on Platt to me. Hope I'm proved wrong.

 

You may well be proved right, my point is that our recruitment is different this season with different priorities

 

It’s how the entire team is set up if you don’t know that you watch the wrong game. Take the game against us……It’s on You Tube…They played with a back three and 7 midfielders and attackers. The back three had zero cover as the second half proved . They were hung out to dry by their manager as a formation. The same applied to their next manager thinking they were Flippin Brazil.
No way on earth would GA play that formation. It’s ok as a manager if one has a footballing philosophy but if the players don’t fit, aka Mark Hughes , then the philosophy is error prone from the get go and bound to fail eventually .

 

Of course I know that but the fact remains, he played in the worst defence in the league last season and plenty of Notts County fans are saying he is error prone. Hopefully that can be worked on because they are very complimentary about his ability to pick a pass and get forward with the ball. However, one comment I've read said that they are happy they've got Platt because they think he will make them more solid at the back. I might be in a minority here but first and foremost, that's what I like to see from a CB.

 

All good, however they know naff all about Platt as he didn’t play in both our games against them. So their opines on him are absolutely without any foundation whatsoever .
They didn’t see him play for Barrow either if my memory is working correctly ?

How can they remotely compare the two?

 

And a lot saying he is a very good defender with en error in him. He also has two qualities we lacked pace and good distribution

 

Or one of them had three defensive partners who were more error prone ?
