Damage done. Confidence shot. Simply too late. Plus our best striker Vaughan had gone.

There was issues, it needs improvement but it wasn't abysmal by any stretch. If we were sat in 15th I'd agree but I think we were 7th when Bowyer went. They probably overachieved as a collective when they were forced to adopt anti football and had zero man management or motivation. feck knows what he said to them at half time.

I think Sutton just might surprise a few people.

Happy with Cooke coming back one who can definitely spray a pass around and create space for others, as for Sutton think we will find that he will be the nasty player we have missed for a while not afraid to put the boot in when needed.

Much better signing this. Based on last season he’s got enough about him to be a success here. If we get Watt I’d like to see a midfield enforcer signed too. Think it would give theM two much more license to get forward then.
Still around 3 or 4 short for me. Maybe a little more. Hopefully we don’t stop any time soon

One of the best signings in McCall's little black book.

    Yes, I agree.

Who do we have midfield wise - Pritchard, Sutton, Cooke - feels one light to me. If Watt were to sign would that be enough?

Not for me. Pritchard is better out wide. Can fill in and it’s good we’ve got options if short but we need specialists in there. Missed out on the lad Sarcevic who went to Bolton. We need a real hard man leader. All the good sides had one last season. We still don’t have it and haven’t had it for the last 4 seasons or so now. It’s missing

Where do you think Clarke fits into that central midfield? Or is he expected to be our fifth striker?

ps I rate Pritchard and I'm really pleased Cooke has returned so long as he isn't restricted to defensive duties. Unlike others, I can't comment on either Sutton or Watt since I don't recall ever having seen them play.

Don't normally disagree with you but i do with Pritchard. Not good enough for anything more than a fill in out wide, better central but then where does Clarke play?

It’s all good for the forum. A bit of debate.

My ideal side would be a new strong DM with Watt and Cooke in front with more license to roam. Then Pritchard maybe left and ask him to come inside like we did with law in McCall’s last spell here, joining up with the front man? that way wood can get down the outside and if we are a bit short at the back, the DM drops in to make up the back four again until wood gets back. We did that a lot before with Vincelot and it’s why I think that position is key.
sign an attacking right back and you could do that same down that side. it won’t always work and we’d need a plan B or C but if we lose vaughan I can’t see how we play more than one up top

Agree with this. Hope he doesn't get too many requests to leave the field. Think he will be the one that allows Cooke to play in a more forward role where he is effective.
