Lived a couple of streets behind the Craven Heiffer (Hastings Ave) in the 90’s,so also got dropped off at Morrisons on many occasions.

110% agree. As you know we lived within 30 miles for 25 years and my daily job took me to meetings in London maybe twice a week. I hated it with a passion , still do. Even though I have free FC train travel within certain areas , when the wife suggests a trip to London I cringe!

They family once took me on a surprise trip for my Birthday……To London Tower to see the poppies, It was absolutely rammed and I hated every second of it. AAAAAAAARGH.

Ditto 70’s as one of the West Bowling tribe! It was a decent pub then, great bitter too.

I mean I almost took over as landlord as opposed to drinking so much in there :brig:

Got offered Ainsworth Arms at Radcliffe, between Bury and Bolton, so went there instead

Was it worth it? I think the CH has well gone now hasn’t it?

It was great being about Bowling, Manchester Rd, Town and Manningham in the 70’s.
    My absolute favourite was Jacobs.
Then many years later the Dolly.

    We digress

It's just the weirdness of it all for me. You'll have a row of shops of the most random combination.. Greggs -> Halal Butchers -> Bookies -> Fruit & Veg market -> Fried chicken shop -> Labour MP office -> Travel agent etc etc. And there'll be about 25 different languages spoken as you walk along the street.

    Very random and bizarre

Just like Walthamstow High St where I had an office once. Nothing wrong with it in fairness. Never found it a problem tbh.

I turned it down as it was a Mr Qs at the time and the format was dated by then and I think they ended up closing it soon after that

My daughter lives in Walthamstow. Very mixed and vibrant area. Hoe Street and Wood Street are a great mix of different shops and eateries; the market area is good and then there is the bit they call 'the village' with lots of nice places to eat. Lloyd Park is great for kids.
I don't understand why some northerners get so uptight about visiting London. It's one of the world's great cities. So interesting and so much to see and do.

Because its one of the most unfriendly places I've ever been. I get a completely different vibe when I visit Berlin which I do quite regular.

Funnily enough, I found Berliners rude & standoffish. I guess that's what makes us all different

Visiting is one thing , living and working in the area Offy is a different bag of marbles. Sadly I did see a lot of the downsides too, especially in Leytonstone and Ilford.

Yes Hoe St , Wood St, Chingford and indeed Walthstow High Rd and Highams Park are all fine.

352 by the looks of things, very interested to see how Cook and Smith develop their partnership over pre season.

Forget pre season. It’s the real games that count.

It’s the business / office district RT. That’s where the massive problem is. Oddly the inhabitants are all non Londoners. I’m sure Colin will confirm. @Interested Bystander@Interested Bystander .

Obviously but it’s a new partnership, it needs time to settle and obviously that time is better in pre season rather than getting up to speed when the season’s already started.
