It is totally different. If you are made redundant then the notice period would still need to be given and either paid or made to work.

He could only be sacked for going awol if he actually has done it with the board knowing and giving permission. I reckon the board are fully aware of his location and have given permission, if you look at the list of directors you will see why they will be aware

 

I can understand how he hoodwinked both, to be fair. He'll have gone to Rupp talking about unearthing players like Dwight Gayle (£5.5m), Jamie Vardy (the modern day Ian Wright), Kwame Ampadu (£2.5m for 8 games of experience), etc, without letting Rupp know how well-fished the waters of British football actually are.

With Rupp's backing, and therefore no financial incentive to sell cheap, he can tell Rhodes his goals and how he intends to make money long-term. Time and patience, invest in the best young players, and be able to afford to simultaneously fund a quality first team.

There's nothing wrong with the plan, as such, despite my MASSIVE reservations about League One sides pretending development squads are suitable at this level. The problem was in the execution.

Not listening to senior figures at the club; not seeking advice; not employing the best people (Abbott is the BEST scout Rahic could afford??? Based on what???); ridiculous levels of staff turnover; apparently no real interest in PEOPLE - the core of any football club; amounting to an egotist who just wanted to go it alone so he could bury some long-self-shaming hatchet, and all because his playing career fizzled out.

Once Edin's gone, I won't have anything against him on a personal level. As a businessman and chairman of this football club, Christ, he won't soon be forgotten or forgiven.

I don't blame Rupp's naivety or Lawn and Rhodes for selling to him - but I blame Rahic for not walking in and appointing the best-of-the-best staff in every plausible position simply because he thought he could control it all himself. What a putz.

 

If he's sacked as an employee and remains as a shareholder only then surely he would only be entitled to dividends. If there is no profit then he won't get anything.

 

And to sack him they would need just cause, or come to a negotiated settlement

I think the £/€ fell 25% after Brexit vote. They were buying the club in instalments. So ended up paying considerably less than they will have planned to.

 

If you are a Company Director and a shareholder, surely you are self employed. Why would there be an employment contract?
