Either of those gilt edged chances go in and forum world would be a lot different. It was an entertaining game of football but it was a lot closer than some give credit for. Hughes changes certainly helped improve recent performances but i still think we are weak in the middle. In fact i think the best players from the Harrogate game again were the best players on show today, Halliday, Oliver, Crichlow and Wright looking good. Good to see Walker back and interesting to see Derbyshire when he comes into the squad.

Just remember they are not robots, I am sure you have some days that go better than others for no discernible reason - even your posts on here are not always the best! ;)

Sounds like Sparkie accepts when we play with the formation as we did on Thursday night and again today we play far more in the oppositions half, let's hope it continues Mr Hughes.

Well what a game. Not one which we dominated, but as a spectacle it was great to watch.

The pace was great. We slowed it down a little at times, but generally the tempo was excellent.

The fact we scored three goals was great to watch.

Got home for 5.40 and have now prepped tea which will be ready for 7.35. Sipping a pint of IPA.

    What a tremendous day.

Best game of the season by far. We were very direct an kept salford on the back foot. Really glad to see Walker back on the pitch as well. A massive boost for the rest of the season

We also hit the bar and some near misses we deserved the win as we did Thursday. I save Harrogate picked another away point up to day. After three victories before us

    A couple of points after a cracking game;

First time i have seen a ref that needs a hairband- and his surname?
    Hair- typical!
Plus Salford did not use any of their subs today, even when they were losing late on,
I bet Hughes would have copped some flack if he did that.
Those of you in the main stand did you notice their number 34 warming up- a 6 foot 7 striker Dackers, good job they didn't send him on

I was surprised at how good Walker looked. And it was great to see how fiesty he was - a reminder of course of why we were so pleased he decided to stay.

Few people, I'd say the vast majority have questioned Hughes formation with regards his possession football, we looked better against Harrogate and stepped it up again today credit to you Mr Hughes, I just wish we had brought our home game against Rochdale to Saturday 7th January rather than what could be a cold wet Tuesday night with a lower attendance, a strange choice.

At 2-2, the gane could have finished in different ways had luck played a role slightly differently. At 3-2 or even 4-2 to us had Walker not fallen over his laces, we'd have proclaimed we've have turned a corner or we're getting back in touch with the leaders or we're now established in the play-offs. Had it gone the other way , say 3-3 or even 4-3 to Salford, it would have been Hughes got it wrong again or Hughes out or we need another half a team in January or Oliver/Eisa/Chapman should be loaned out to Thackley! It could have been another BT meltdown! The difference between those very different outcomes were small changes in luck.

It was a very good performance from us against a very capable team. I don't recall us playing so well as a team for a long time and there were several very good individual contributions. The result was most welcome and has helped enormously. But there is still work to be done to be able to repeat that kind of performance when it's needed again. There'll be more twists and turns and I really hope that the changes which Hughes has made at long last in the past 2 home games are repeated in future games. He's proved he now has a Plan B and hopefully now knows when to deploy it.

I'll wager now that many will disagree with this. But we have to keep our feet on the floor. Two good results to counter some of the crap we've endured recently are very welcome. But there's more to be done if we aren't to be playing in this division for another season.

Thought the ref had a great game. He let the game flow and it made for a fantastic spectacle.

Many refs forget football is entertainment and kill the flow, but this was a good example. Cards kept in his pocket most of the game and he let loads of 50:50s go. Well done hairbanded fella!

Football generally is a game of inches. Salford created as many clear cut chances as us, we just happened to take one more. Same as the game at Carlisle, a lot of complaining about but in truth Carlisle weren't much better than us. Today's result are the sort of games that could go either way, just need to win more of these sort of games than we lose. I will say it was one of the more entertaining games of the season.

I get the glass 'half empty' comments on here. Of course Salford could have and perhaps should have equalised.

But it's also true to say, that half time came at a great time for them and we really should have been at least 3-1 up.

Fact is we created 6 very good shots on goal plus 8 others against a team that don't concede many.

So a deserved win for me. They'll always be dodgy moments. Orient had a let off in their match against Stevenage recently.

Note, also not a single team won by more than one goal today - it's a tough tough decision and inevitably we can analyse every match and argue about luck or not.

Completely agree Dennis. Last two wins have reinvigorated the squad and more importantly the fans. But there is still a lot of work to do and I can see quite a few changes to the squad in January.

Feet firmly grounded BUT today it was good to see the team produce some of the football we know they are very capable of. Some of the one touch passing in the first half was superb to watch.

Rochdale already have a match. Remember it's a normal league Saturday - we're not playing because Stockport made it to to this round of the FA Cup.
