For me, yesterday showed we are pretty much no further forward. We are going to be hard to beat this season for sure.
I'm sure we will be top half and with some luck with injuries etc may even get into the play offs.
Sadly nowhere near top 3 though. To get into the autos we need to be formidable at home where we've been woeful for years. We were slow and laboured against a team that parked the bus. Yet again I can see plenty of home draws with some 1-0 defeats in there.
Hope I'm wrong but very underwhelmed right now!

All of my family members who had pies were sick afterwards. They didn't seem cooked to me but I ate one anyway and was also sick

Perhaps but we still need to mix it up as a predictable ball that has to travel 40 yards is incredibly easy to defend against and that's even if the defenders actually get the ball right in the first place.

Why doesn’t that surprise me? The were keeping the wrapped pies in a heater with the door open. I wouldn’t heat pies like that in their wrapper yuk! Plus cooling and warming is the perfect environment for breeding bacteria.

Sam Walker annoyed me yesterday with holding on to the ball long. We play with a back three (five with the wingbacks) so there is no excuse for not getting the ball out quicker when we will have extra men available to receive the ball.

Baldwin thinks he is a ball player but his decision making is woeful. These chipped balls to nobody were pathetic. Kelly only passes the ball to the opposition but Byrne improved on previous performances a little bit.

Halliday, Kavanagh and Sarcevic have been poor so far in my opinion. Kavanagh is understandable as he's arguably out of position but the other two need to improve quickly.

I had one at the Sunderland friendly and it was hot, cooked and was enjoyable. Not sure what happened yesterday

Bags full of bitterness and pies full of salmonella. What a time to be alive.

Probably sold all the fully defrosted and cooked pies. Getting more done in time for the customers was a challenge. Pies particular need a good hot oven so the filling is properly cooked.

I think you're right about the diagonal balls. Started that way at MK Dons too - diagonals towards Wright. A player renowned for his heading prowess!! Started that way again yesterday. Would it have been better to bring Cook over that side for the diagonals? Possible flick on to an overlapping Wright? Their CBs would have then had a choice to make - go with Cook out wide and be out of position or let the fullback defend him.

Thought it was a strange option at MK and we started with it again yesterday - like somebody else has said, completely bypasses our ball playing midfielders!!!

The diagonal balls worked OK last season because Platt was pretty good at picking out mainly Halliday. I'm yet to be convinced any of the current centre backs are as accurate as Platt was.

Yesterday was Salford's first clean sheet in 12 matches.

This a team that finished in 20th last season and were widely suggested after 2 hapless defeats before coming to VP that they would be seriously struggling this season.

Come to Bradford, get a point and a clean sheet, no problem.

    Appalling.

Good post, my only concern is with regards fans expectations, I was far from happy with our first half performance and to be fair I thought there might be a reaction at half time if there was I didn't hear it, but Alexander has been in the game long enough to know what most football fans are like, if the product on the pitch is not up to their expectations some will criticise.
We all fancy ourselves as managers (and there's nothing wrong with that) I thought Oduor did enough Tuesday night to be worthy of a start, and saw nothing in his 20+ minutes when he came on to suggest otherwise always trying to get forward at times his link up with Pointon was a delight to watch, there is defiantly a player in there but he just needs to be more consistent, again with my managers hat on could Alexander have made the same changes in the 60th minute instead of the 70th I honestly can't see why not although we were the better team second half were put them under the cosh when he made those changes, and looked the only side capable of scoring.
It will be interesting to see as you suggest if Alexander gives Sanderson a start (I'm not writing Kavanagh off) but the lad looks useful when he came on and at 6'1" he will be a threat in the box.

Some decent points, but "you think we will win more than we lose at VP"! With respect shouldn't that be an absolute, absolute minimum for team wanting to finish in the top half even? Sorry if it makes me a moaner but I want better than that.

Have a watch of this video clip it answers all you anti Cook comments first action we see is Cook bringing down a high ball and creating a chance for Sarcevic who puts his shot over the bar, then takes a ricochet leaves his marker for dead and scores a perfectly good goal which the incompetent officials rule no goal. then wins yet another header that drifts wide, were you at the game yesterday ?.

Those diagonal balls are for the wing backs because GA wants them to get in those forward positions. Wright said he has had to work on his heading and to be fair to him it looks like he has. Wright was also noticeably better defensively yesterday using his pace to get back and cover. Having said that Clarke Odour was again good when he came on.

When we are struggling (as usual) he should be making changes after 60mins not 70 ......

We all do mate, early days. Let's see if we can bring Bromley down to earth next week, that would be a good start. Despite all the disappointments of the last 5 years with various managers and players I am trying to remain positive.

Both my daughters drove us down last season as you know my hips weren't good fortunately I now have a blue badge so there are few situations where I can't park and that includes taking a permit parking place as near to the stadium as possible ;).
