The club are starting to show that they think about themselves.

 

I just cant see it being on. Like everyone else in bradford I expect, my front lawn has been frozen solid all week and snow from last saturday still hasnt gone as its been 0 or minus all week. I don’t see how things will get any better overnight, looking at the forecast. 11 am seems rather late to make the call tbh.

 

I don't imagine you've had frost covers on your lawn though.

I'm still confident it'll be fine but it must be in the balance if there's an inspection.

Why ?

 

Hoping it's off now, -1 and raining up here but the black ice is treacherous, urge all to be cautious out there .....

 

The reason for an 11am pitch inspection is purely based on that probably being the time the Rochdale side would be setting off over, if it was a team further away it would have been either looked at yesterday or by now.

I just can't see how the game will go ahead on the basis we have had many a game called off for frozen pitches in far better conditions than we currently see. The grass outside my house is just green concrete at the moment.

 

Club are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Call it off Friday and supporters moan that conditions could have changed overnight. Call it off at 9 am then supporters moan that they haven’t given the day chance to warm up a little. Call an inspection at 11am and then their accused of not giving enough time for long distance travellers. A certain poster on here will have a go at the club regardless of what they do.

 

Quite right Kevin. See the T&A where it is the match officials who have asked for the inspection and set the time. The last I heard the pitch was sound.
As to the other games, all those called off yesterday involved mostly long distance travel, e.g. the games at Pools, Tranmere, Stockport, Colchester and Northampton. The only 'local' games off were Walsall and Mansfield where clearly there was no chance of playing and the only 'long distance' game remaining is Barrow where it gets baltic but has the advantage of the effect of warmer sea temperatures.
I have explained before that if the away team sets off and then the game is postponed, the home club is responsible for the costs of the visitors. All the first 5 games I listed involved almost certain overnight stops so the home clubs would want to eliminate doubt, Northampton have arranged for next Tuesday already when it will be a tropical 13C
Local games like us and Donny, Orient involve the opposition in short journeys and no overnight so less cost if off.
I think we must be quite confident unless things change significantly.
