I think Young was burnt by the Hughes experience and it was never going to flip back. Best for both parties that he moved on.

I can only comment on what I saw of him in a city shirt (limited I know) but I’m not convinced he had the mentality GA is looking for in a squad. Again, I think this was a hangover from the Hughes experience.

TBH, if Mellon is indeed the player we have seen against Newport and MK, I’d love to see someone of his profile (or him himself!) as the succession plan for Cook. I’m not sure Young would have been that player.

 

100% . I may be unfair I don’t know, but I think asking him to “ press” would be a step too far for him ?

 

MK DONS LOSE ANOTHER EMBARRASSING PERFORMANCE HOME SCENES LIMBS

This guy sums the situation at MK Dons up at the end, they get rid of Alexander because they didn't like his type of football bring in Williamson and watch tippy tappy football that also doesn't produce the goods, sack him bring in Lindsey who also plays tippy tappy football and they wonder why fans aren't happy, its more like watching a game of chess.

 

The odd thing is , Crawley didn’t play tippy tappy stuff in the play offs, expansive fast paced one touch counter attacking . A joy to watch really , they tore Crewe and Donny a right one from memory . So a club in MKD that recruits to a “plan” and “style” , expect Alexander & Lindsey to play a “style” alien to them and wonder why it doesn’t work? Their plummet down the divisions , despite their limitless supply of money , follows ……… It’s baffling ?
Is it this “ style/ plan” just a fiction or are they appallingly bad recruiters? I really expected them to be up there this season …..

 

I just think this style of football is not for this league. You can’t recruit the highly skilled professional footballers that is required. Plus it is so boring to watch, I hated it when Hughes had us playing that way.

 

Winning and not playing like shite at the start of the season. That's all I asked for.

No cook, change of formation... Forced GA hand. Maybe just maybe GA has got lucky.

Again it shows how awful this league really is. Automatic is there if the players want it.

 

The change in formation is down to the return of Patto and Sarcs. It would have happened even if Cook had not got injured and with Cook there, we would have scored more than we have

 

8 injuries didn’t help

 

When Cook plays it is so easy to just hoof it up to him. He is the best finisher in the division but his absence has benefited the rest of the team

 

We'll never know, with an attack minded players like Pattison, Sarcevic, Pointon, and two attack minded wing backs any two from 4 of Halliday, Richards, Wright or Adaramola a fit Andy Cook would have relished the service he was given IMO of course.
