I know, we have that many attacking players I can’t remember all of them. You have to possess good man management skills to keep a large squad happy. They all should want to play, but that can be very frustrating. Maybe fate is forcing MH hand here, he will have to play players he wouldn’t normally. However, he did say he would rotate the players, but he never did last season, and he has been reluctant this season. So here comes a kick up the backside. The shadow of Jake Young is hanging over him.

I am not sure Hughes or probably Derbyshire himself will want to play for more than 30 minutes per game, as usual appearing in the 70th minute. Equally I am not sure given the track record, Hughes will want to blood any of our younger or newer recruits up top for this or the Harrogate game, but he should, and I hope I am being too pessimistic.

The other variable for our attacking formation options is how fit and on fire Walker is, if he is on his game we have seen on occasion how good he is up there and can support/ score. If not, he won't be putting himself about or on for the full 90 either.

Returning to negativity (probable reality), I fear both our next two games are going to be tactically possession based defensive borefests, with our opponents camped in our half.

 

What about young Pointon? He should surely get a start?

 

If Derbyshire can't play at least 75 minutes the odd time a season when required then what the bloody hell is he doing at a professional football club?

Relying on cook the whole season was just stupid. You can’t assume another free scoring season.

Waiting for an injured striker (Oliver) to return who let’s face it, didn’t blow us away before his injury.

Right now, I'd take Hughes for 30 minutes. Preferably the last half hour when the centre backs are too knackered to defend against scissor kicks.

We got the attacking midf from West Brom. Tulloch? Some lad on loan from Villa? Afoke - a winger? And then the winger from TNS, Wilson? Oh, and then the American defender, JT?

is that about it?

And cook and Pattison are currently injured?

 

Tulloch has played up front as much as he has a winger during his limited career so far. Afoka has only ever played U21 or U18 games with a record, last season he started 8 games up front and 8 on the wings for Villas U21s. In his 8 up top, he scored 4 goals.

Wilson an out and out winger and Tomkinson a ball playing defender. Hughes said after the Mansfield game that Cook and Pattison should be back in 3 to 4 weeks all being well.
