Just checked on the West Yorkshire Sports Daily web site to see if Mark
has come forward to give his take on what we saw today unfortunately for some reason he didn't and the lad Sam Stubbs gave his very honest assessment of the game, no bad feelings towards the crowd he understands their frustration, it's a long season there will be twists and turns towards the end of the season this being one.
The fans were unbelievable and I can understand their frustrations, we should be winning or taking points from the game so its fully justified their emotions towards us.

Fordy would have been asleep when he missed Cook barging into the area in the first half and setting up Eisa for a shot when everybody else would have expected Cook to shoot from a tight angle.
Not Cook's fault he is the best finisher City currently have.

If the answer to our midfield problem is Clayton and Smallwood playing together at home, then someone is asking the wrong question.

Having made Smallwood captain I think Mark Hughes is reluctant to drop him. I get the idea of playing them both in tough away games. But breaking down packed defences at home requires creativity. It particularly needs players who can carry the ball and break defensive lines. Smallwood is not that player.

 

Our best players wouldn’t get into the bottom 4 league one teams and I’m struggling to think who would get into the likes of Leyton Orient or Mansfield’s team. We all think our team is under performing but apart from maybe Cook and at a push Jamie Walker we have a very average team. The back 4 is very meh and Halliday is lucky to be playing in the football league at all. Clayton had fallen out of favour at Doncaster, then we have players like Gilliead and Eisa who are very much bog standard league 2 players. No one excites me. No one gets me out of my seat. If we were to go up then this team would need another massive overhaul imo.
Harry Lewis is the exception but I’ve no idea how he stacks up against the other goalkeepers in our league as I don’t watch them week in week out.

 

I'm never happy playing towards the Kop first half, that's not offering any excuses for what we saw this afternoon,but I have always prefer to attack the Kop second half.

 

Completely disagree this is not down to any individual player. This is down to a stubborn manager he is wasting what should be an automatic promotion challenging squad into an exhibition team 74% possession o shots on target. Boring ineffective and crap football.

 

I think Walker would be alright in league 1 but apart from Lewis, nobody else gets close unfortunately. What's even more stark is the difference between this squad and the last one we had that scraped into the play offs. Jones, Wells, Hanson, Meredith, Darby, McCardle, Thompson, Reid etc. If that's the standard needed we are a long way short.

Calling the players brave.

Sorry but this so called brave players he has have only come from behind once in the league this season to win. That's a major flaw in temperament and ability

 

What are you basing “automatic promotion challenging squad on” exactly? The squad is full of average players who have achieved very little in the their careers. They are team short of any bottle or tactical awareness.
Smallwood who came here as some kind of coup has been dreadful and it’s astonishing that East can’t get a game over him.

 

Maybe it's the coaching

 

Isn't that the case for every squad in this division?
