Power and Humphrys will definitely be in the first 11.

Just hope that folk have a lot of patience goung into the season and dont think that teams like Wycombe are gonna be an easy game ..............its gonna be a tough season and one where we go into as the underdog which may help us for a change rather than the pressure thats been on us over the last 6 seasons

From last season I think we’ll see Power come in for Smallwood, Humphyrs replace Kavanagh and a back 5 of Touray, Tilt , Wright, Pennington and Neufville.

Can’t see the starting 11 being dramatically different from that.

So that’s 7 changes from 11 and nowhere near dramatically different. Really ?

Really? I bet most people can make at least 9 of the starting 11 against Wycombe and there'll be at least half that could get the full line up correct barring post minute injuries.

I really dont understand the disrespect people are showing Halliday hes been outstanding since the day he signed and that wing back slot is his and for Neuf to take from him.

I love Halliday, howver:, he did struggle for spells last season and if Neufville is an upgrade, Ive no problem with that, but thats not disrespecting Halliday

Halliday needs to model himself on Wayne Jacobs. Two or three times we tried to upgrade on him and each time he battled away and saw off the challenges to keep his shirt. He had a great attitude and I wouldn't rule out Halliday doing similar, he'll definitely not just sulk and go away.

Whichever one of them performs the best over pre season should get the shirt for the first game. It's how it should be for every position across the pitch. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see them both start, with Neufville playing in front of Halliday on the right. Not saying that will happen, but it's certainly another option imo.

Sorry that’s not true… His form was poor in the early part of last season. Why did he get dropped if GA thought there wasn’t a problem and wasn’t it reasonable to suggest Benn was brought in to cover that potential for poor form?
It’s not disrespect btw to observe and say someone wasn’t playing as well as someone who was the “ player of the previous season” .

Using your anology, GA was being disrespectful too. Fair?

I think part of the reason Halliday was off it at the start of the season because the whole defensive set up was shaky behind him. He can't use it as an excuse but it has to be considered a factor.

The first line up of the season had Wright at LWB and a back 3 of Baldwin, Byrne and Kelly.

That isn't a set up that would ever inspire confidence if you're wanting to try and push your opposite number backwards.

Careful, you will have folk screaming about square pegs or summit!!! Certainly an option eh. Sarcevic and Power in the middle then?

Ive not been looking forward to the big kick off as much as I am now for a long long time. L2 was such a drag....same old shite in the fixture lists, crap away days....

We have lots to look forward too in terms of opposition, some big games finally. Town a sell out, Barnsley, Bolton, Cardiff et al should be all 20k plus too.

Yeh I think Power and Humphrys walk into starting 11 for first few games anyway....Wright is 100% starting too as will Touray. Pennington in against Wycombe by default as Baldwin suspended.

    Only question marks are
    RWB,
LCB (although looks like Tilt now)
CM (probably Pattison but could be someone incoming)
LAM (Probably Bobby but never know if GA wants to ease him into L1 football)

I think Humphrys plays the LAM role and Kav keeps his place up top.

Plenty of options and fluidity though.

He also missed part of pre season due to injury and was used at RCB and LWB in some games to cover for injuries. No wonder really that his form didn't pick up until he started to get a consistent run in his favoured position.

We will know more after Oldham starting 11 is announced...if thats a decent performance then it will probably stick.
