Phil’s assessment of the game was that we played really well. Their goalie was brilliant and it could have been more. I said did they slice through our midfield and defence. They were very nippy as you expect talented lads to be but we handled it. I didn’t watch as I was away for the night.

 

I’m telling you how I saw it. Cook looked poor.

 

I don’t watch games with claret and amber tinted glasses on. I’m not impressed with cook this season. He needs to do more and quickly or he’ll probably lose his place to Oliver

 

Last night Smith missed a similar amount of chances but you fail to put him in the same caturgury.
Cook hadn't been anywhere near the Andy Cook of last season I wouldn't think any fair minded City fan would expect another season like last season, where both Cook and Lewis carried that team to a play off place, but poor season or not ironically Andy Cook is still the club's leading scorer so far this season I believe.
Let's judge him come May I have a feeling he will be the club's leading goal scorer again, with regards Claret & Amber glasses I try and offer a ballance post and tell it as I see games, unlike a few on here with their knee jerk posts after a win or defeat but as long as Cooks replacement scores goals I wouldn't have a problem.

 

I thought we did o/k against a team of kids especially when they went down to 10 men, but my reply was to @Loyalbantam post which I though was another over reaction with regards one certain player, Cook missed some chances but so did others, take our chances and it could have been 6/7 or 8 but credit to the kids they kept trying to play the way Liverpool like there sides to play.

 

Cook has mostly looked poor with the ball at his feet this season, in my opinion, and they were able to nick it away from him a few times.

They didn't outmuscle Cook though, and Cook's goal was him basically 'big brothering' their defenders, shrugging them off, and firing home with venom.

I think it's not quite happened for Cook overall, but his close control is only part of his game. I had no issues with his performance against Liverpool.

 

We were there Chippy, he was about 15 yds on from our family crew.

I think he spent most of one half hanging over the fence berating the linesman. Twin grandsons who are 9 wondered where we had brought them.

Credit to him, there was no bad language ( That they could decipher ! )

My lad has been going since the age of 8, over ten years now. Been in Charlies vicinity through those years too many times to mention. Always entertaining, although at times you do need an enigma machine to decode what he's saying.
