BTW to all the nit pickers......... just think back 2 years ago and how fooking negative and crap it really was compared to now.

This current team is nothing near up to full tilt yet 4 wins no goals conceded ...... Good Times enjoy it while it lasts I say

 

At times you wonder if you've been to the same football match, I'm all for voicing your opinion on the game but some of the stuff posted you have to wonder if the poster understands the game.
Burnley were a Premiership club last season and for long spells you could see the difference in ability, but we stuck to what we do well letting them having the ball in their own half and making it difficult to play out from the back, once again we weathered the storm and gave them a few headaches second half, I posted with 10/15 minutes to go I'd take penalties and once again this squad delivered, every penalty was quality, and when Maca saved the 3rd ? they were under massive pressure, shame about the draw we'll possibly lose money on the night but defiantly a winnable game, another great night to add to my memory book.
PS, I said to the grandson the selection of the kid Welch would be an interesting one as I believe coming from the "School of Science" he'd try and play the ball rather than knocking it long .

I know I go on a bit about having an old pro (or two) in your side but he really gets up in the opposition noses, notice who got up first from that late head injury, and the touch line hambags he was happy to take them all on .

 

The only positive with the draw is that we will be preparing to play a L1 side. No need to come up with different approaches for a much stronger opponent. Keep doing what we are doing well. No distractions of a 'glamour' away game - just business as usual.

 

Not forgetting Dom Ballard is no longer with them he was a massive asset to them last season without his goals they would have certainly gone down.

 

Spent the money on Kabia and Dobra though. Look to have a much better squad this term.

 

I thought they played some good stuff but I'm glad we don't do that whole play out from the back thing anymore.

You could see the positives and negatives of the approach yesterday - it makes them vulnerable to a good, high press (which we caught them with several times), but if they can play around that press then they're away.

I personally don't admire it, and while I supported Hughes, I think the reality is Bradford City aren't a tikataka side, we're a blood-and-thunder, leave it all on the pitch type club through and through.

I think we need to accept that is our footballing identity. More GA/PP than Hughes/McCall.

 

Really enjoyed last night. Thought we were very competitive against a team with obvious technical superiority.

Swan was excellent but Pennington was absolutely class I must say. Welch did well on debut too. Cartwright did ok, made some mistakes that you'd expect from a young inexperienced player but some good signs. Lapslie made a great challenge on the edge of the box but he really struggled.

Orient away is deflating after that but being selfish, I don't mind it as its in my doorstep these days.

 

BTW and I know I have moaning but them advertising boards at the Bradford End fooking shocking

Terrible for me. I've had to have eye surgery in the past, so really bright light is quite uncomfortable. Best bring sunglasses for night matches now.

 

Aye, I'm not sure if fans of other clubs have the same problems but from where I sit in the lower kop you cannot see where the ball has gone when those things flash, usually white. Just have to guess where the ball has gone.

 

Don't know if it's an issue with folk sat on the kop but it needs sorting ...........fooking ain't having another season of that rather move to another stand than a season of guessing where the ball is.

And if you have an issue in the lower tier then I presume there is an issue in the whole kop

 

Why can't they stick them down the Midland Road side ?
The Main stand has a full rown down that whole side.
as you say it's a fcuking nightmare watching any goal action down the Bradford end from the Kop. It's alright Sparks saying they've turned them down to the lowest setting, it doesn't matter.
Otherwise just give back the £10k to the sponsor's & feck the boards off

Last night was a great example of why we have had good times over the just two or three years. Team work effort and courage against a more talented team.
All the players gave everything I think only two were underwhelming in terms of performance Jackson who was out of position and Lapslie apart from one great tackle.
The signs look good for a decent season

 

I know OK getting the money in but at what cost at passing folk off who will invest thousands..............fooking may aswell watch the Cambridge game at home if that the case rather than the spot the ball competition ...........most of the time if we do score at that end I down to the crowd reaction rather than seeing it go in ................is it simply a case that the gap between the goal and the boards are simply to tight and that's the issue ????
