BOWYER GONE

Well, I think it needed to be two weeks ago.

The end was Carlisle, it just needed to filter down, but unfortunately it's taken too long.

The window has closed, the two best strikers in the division have left, the new manager if he's more attacking would have surely got more out of them than Bowyer, and now instead he's inheriting some lumps from worse teams.

 

If Warnock came and it’s a big IF he’d want to bring his own man in.

 

What a guttless decision being lead by the flock instead of leading . Allowing the manager to bring players in on Friday sacking on Monday.
And now wait for the flock baaing in favour of a serial failure.
As always whoever is put in charge whether I like him or not will get my support but this is a poor weak decision.

I haven't had the follow yet. Wonder what he's got up his sleeve? Why didn't he put this much effort into his coaching

 

Takes more guts to sack someone when they’re failing, than sit there and do nothing.

That said I agree the timing is terrible. If they were really backing a new man they’d have at least given him a week or two at the end of the window to get a few of his own players in.

 

The strange thing is on deadline day, Friday, the club was backing the manager and signing new players, presumably on his recommendation. On Saturday came the predictable loss since we haven’t won away for yonks. Sunday is nostalgia day at the club. Monday we do the deed. Last Monday was the day to do it. That week’s delay has shot the new guy in the foot even before it’s through the door.

 

The only weak decision that it wasn't done at the start of January. The new man could've had a window and try keep Doyle and Vaughan on board. Bad timing but definitely needed doing. Irony of being lead by the flock and the board being sheep. You were happy to follow Bowyer to a bottom half finish. The rest of us want better.

 

Hasn't Bowyer stated that he knew nothing about the signings?

The decision is the correct one to make for the business.

 

Bowyer had little say on the signings mate.

He wanted Doyle to stay.

 

Maybe that is what’s required. If JR thinks it is best for the club he will do it. JR is nobody’s fool, cautious yes, pragmatic yes, but at his core he loves the club, he is nobody’s soft touch.

 

The thing is the sacking has been inevitable for a long time so what HAS been gained by postponing it. I’m pleased it’s happened but the sequence of events leading up to it does rather suggest the decision-makers haven’t a clue how to run a club. I have a lot of time for JR snd it pains me to post this. I don’t suppose the ultimate decision was entirely his.

 

Don't read anything into the odds. Sky Bet are a joke of a firm. A tenner from an account they have marked will cause the price to collapse. These next manager markets are renowned for it. There are usually two of three big 'gambles' before clubs appoint an actual manager - the traders can draw in punters following the cash.

 

I think it was deliberate waiting for the window to shut. That way it won’t cost them any more money. Rahic did it when they sacked Stuart, waited until the window was closed then appointed Grayson.
