What positives can you see mate? we lost, we didn't score, we hardly created?

Missing penalties can happen but you all needed to look at Clarke's pen on Saturday to see he isn't the best at pens and I wasn't confident he was going to score.

There is only one positive and that's filtering down from the top we are where we need to be
A mid way finish is accepted as success and to be honest we should do that
As for the penalty miss and lots on here seem to have a crystal ball saying we would have gone on to win (need the lottery numbers from them) if that had gone in, it was a shocking penalty he was lucky to have scored one on Saturday and shouldn't have been taking it simple as that another lesson not learned

We have a mid table squad. Not sure why anyone would be pissed off about McCall saying anything else. Does anyone think we have a top 3 team??

Do you believe we have a mid-table squad by design? Or do you believe we have a mid-table squad because of poor recruitment and a badly balanced squad?

Didn't Rhodes' interview answer that? He seemed pretty clear that balancing the books and hanging tight in a financially challenging season for everyone, rather than promotion, was the priority.

I think its because we are skint. Last seasons sqaud was awful and like nearly every team this season, no one has really improved their squad. We couldn't have expected wholesale changes in the last window.

Yes. I've now read that recent interview with JR. It's really insightful and he's quite open about the club's expectations for this season. We are treading water might well encapsulate the club's expectation. It helps to explain our lack of firepower upfront and the poor recruitment during the transfer window.

I only wish there had been that level of honesty a couple of months earlier at say the fan's forum when a different level of expectation was being being encouraged.

We are treated as mushrooms mate and you know how they are kept and fed !!!
Same as the non release of details of the new CEO and we all know who that's going to be and not telling us that mid table mediocrity was the target this year before season tickets went on sale
The disconnect between the club and the fans is growing at an alarming rate
Stuart saying he takes lots of positives from a defeat by a self inflicted comedy goal and us missing a penalty is a nonsense he ought to be raging with them rather than praising them too much Mr Nice Guy

Yes. It's of real concern to me that there seems to be a growing gap between the club and its supporters at the moment. If the fans stop trusting what is being told to them by the club from all quarters, they'll be voting with their feet at the next opportunity.

Couldn’t believe how poor his penalty was on Saturday. He got dead lucky that the keeper moved. I therefore wasn’t surprised in the slightest that last nights was saved. It could only go to one side of the goal with the way he “bent” his left footed run up. He should never be allowed to take a penalty again whilst playing football. A shocking, shocking penalty taker.

Funny how it takes an awful start to the season for them to finally fess up and start managing our expectations more honestly. It goes without saying the books have to be balanced - we hear budget is still available.

does anyone trust the club to use a limited playing budget wisely? Recent track record suggests not. We’ve no decent goal scorers at the club despite being told we were trying to sign some, thats nothing to do with budget, that’s being unable to sell the club and it’s coming home to roost as a lower half league two club in the shadow of clubs like Newport and Harrogate.

We've signed Clarke and a lad from Wolves as attackers.

You say you don't trust the club to recruit to a budget, but those two must be very inexpensive. You're saying we should have signed better than a proven League One player and one who is likely to score goals for a similar amount?

Sounds pretty naive to me, mate.

In the current climate it may seem sensible to be prudent. But that's not the rhetoric that was coming out of the club pre season when trying to sell season tickets. Vaughan would be replaced, there was space in the salary cap for team strengthening despite it only being £1.5 million. There was no talk whatsoever of just being happy to survive. I signed up for two season tickets on the back of the uncertainty and the club needing as much backing as it could get. Part of that was an idea that they would be in a good position to push for promotion when a lot of clubs could be struggling. Bit miffed about what's come out after to be honest.

Me too if I am being honest. Last night has definitely added to a bad week for the club, no doubt about that.
Got up this morning and honestly didn't feel the anger or disappointment I normally do after a poor defeat. I am sort of resigned to it now.

Cannot recall the last time I felt this disinterested in the club.

Ifollow did us all a favour last night by refusing to screen the game.

A piss poor Bolton team beat us and without too much trouble.

We couldn't penetrate a wet paper bag right now.

So we are being dumbed down by SM to accept a mediocre season at best. No wonder the players didn't give a shit in the first half by all accounts.

Really poor messages coming out right now when we should be trying to be as positive as we can.

I understand why being prudent at this stage might be the right thing to do and that would equally apply to most other clubs in our division. You know my opinion of JR but I applaud him for being so open about matters. But as you say, it does contrast markedly with some of the other bollocks messages which have come out of the club in recent times. I had a re-read of the blog from the fan's forum earlier where there was talk from the club of being at least in the play-off positions this season and that a club of our size shouldn't be in this division. That isn't the message JR is now giving. Have things really changed so much for our club relative to others in a similar situation?

Just seen the lowlights and Clarkes penalty! Seen harder back passes.

And when they attacked we just backed off and said have a shot if you want to, we don't mind.

I noticed last night that the commentators were discussing that City don't come out and warm up just before kick off like other teams do and how this might contribute to our slow starts.

Even Kiwomya got it right. We go back to the dressing room, cool down and then just wait for the start when we should be getting the heart rates up again and the muscles ready to go.

They sort of hang around having a bit of a chat. I thought they might start launching balls into the box and have headers (like they do in Sunday league teams), quick cigarette on the sideline....

The underlying sense is one of amateurism, lax, lazy, no attention to detail and this comes from the manager.

Oh sorry we don't have a manager. We have a playing legend.
