This signing sums the club up. Over a 1000 players allegedly available and as always, we look backwards for players we let go, not once but twice. The whole set up needs shaking up. Clarke wasn't that influential at his best in my opinion. Had it been Gary Jones or an Andrew Davies type of player, I could understand, but not a crocked, no scoring, with no ideal position player. There are dozens of players up and down the country with that resume.

Let's hear from the club what the long term plan is, of which Clarke isn't a part of.

It's an extremely poor signing and it wasn't needed.

Spot on. It's the old boys network. Everyone gets to have at least 3 spells with us. I want Lee Mills and Robbie Blake brought back as well.

Billy wasn't a Stuart signing initially, he was a Parky signing.

I don't really associate him that much with Stuart.

Lazy appointment in February which I disagreed with at the time and hope he gets it right but he is no less exempt to criticism than any other member of the hierarchy at City.

 

Just been looking on the Grimsby message boards they really like Clarke with plenty of comments like this

Clarke for me was one of the better things to come out of the end of last season, really livened our front play up, linked up with players in all areas, quality on the ball, great movement. Think we would struggle to find similar qualities/ experience. Would love us to sign him again but albeit within our limits.

Trying to be more positive. It’s important to remember after we beat Exeter at the start of November we were second, so this team have at least some potential in them. You could argue the reason we dropped off so badly was due to appalling negative tactics which hindered our strengths and sapped moral, get a few players in that improve us such as in the centre of midfield and coach them right and try breed some confidence in the team and who knows we might start to look a team. We beat a number of the top 7 last season, whilst having a very negative manager. Let’s see what we can do with more positivity, as others have said McCall should be judged as any other manager we have had, can’t blame the players 100%.

 

Higher up the league than we are now but one step at a time and hopefully Billy Clarke and co will help us take the first step.

 

I see there's an article about George Green on the T&A website today. I think he'd be ideal to play with Clarke and hope we can get him back in at last.

The only downside is that it might prevent Billy Knott from re-signing.
