So as not to spam the entry thread more. As I mentioned on the entry thread for next weekend I'm testing a new way to submit your entries which you can find at https://bantamtalk.com/submit_prediction.php

One of the upgrades I want to add is to allow you to select the players rather than type so we don't have the issues with different spellings that we currently have. I have imported the squad via a data providers API but I'm not sure if it's fully correct. Can you have a look at the image below and let me know if there are any players who aren't at the club anymore or anyone who has played a match (or is likely to play a match) that is missing. New Prediction League Portal User Guide

The New Prediction League Portal Simplifies both your entry into the prediction League each Week but also makes it easier for me to manage and update.

You can access the Portal on This Link. You will need to be logged into the forum to use the submission page but can view the Leaderboard while logged out. If you are not logged in you will be promoted back to the forum to login or register before you can submit a prediction.

The Submission Page

1. This shows you the current Active match. If you have submitted a prediction it will also indicate you have so you know your submission has been successful.
2. Here you can see how many people have entered and also how long you have until Kick-Off
3. Here you enter how many goals each team will score
4. Here is the scorers selection. The number of Player selectors will dynamically change depending on how many City Goals you have entered into section 3
5. Here is your submission History. You will see every match you have made a submission to (only Via the portal though)

Updating Your prediction

If you ahem already submitted a prediction you can update it by visiting the page again. It will automically populate the fields with your current Prediction

Adding extra Goals & Scorers



When you add an additional goals it will spawn additional Scorer dropdown for you to add extra scorers

Removing Goals



When you remove goals it will highlight that you have too many goal scorers and active a remove button so you can remove them. The Update button will be disabled until the number of scores equals the number of predicted goals.

Player Not in Drop-down

All the first team squad should be in the drop-down list but in the event of a youth player breaking into the team or the signing of a Free Agent we have a write-in option. Select the Write-In option on the dropdown and the field will change to a text box




Enter the players name and you will be able to submit. To remove a write in click the undo button and it will revert back to the dropdown so you can select a player from the list.

When you enter a write-in I get an alert and then when I add the player to the database I can link your write-in to the correct player

The Leaderboard

We now have a Live Leaderboard that I can update as the match is on-going.

1. By default you will will see the Overall leaderboard but clicking on any of the numbers will show you the leaderboard for a specific game
2. To make finding you score easier you can enter a username here and it will filter the table showing only users who match the search term
3. Here is the managers name and ranking If you are on Equal points the first person will get the ranking number and the rest will have = next to their name to show its a shared position.
   • Clicking on a name in the table will expand the cell showing a breakdown of your score
   • On the Overall it will show you the previous weeks score
   • For a selected Game Week it will show you the score for game week
   • For Legacy Game weeks it will just show you the total points
   • For Portal Game weeks it will show you how many points you get for each part including bonus for perfect prediction or penalties for naming over 6 scorers (You lose points for every incorrect scorer you predict if you predict more than 6 to prevent scorer spamming). It will also show you your prediction and highlight the bits you got right In Green
4. Legacy score is the score using the old manual system
5. Portal Score is the score for the games using the Portal submission system
6. Total is the two combined

They are pulled from the headers sent via the forum to allow it to use the login so they shouldn't be showing for anyone who is a supporter. How many are showing and where as I'm not actually seeing any?

 

I've added a function that strips the adcode out of the headers being sent by the forum. I don't think its breaking anything else but should fully remove ads from the portal
