I havent watched the game nor the highlights but it sounds like walsall played for the point when it went down to ten men. Think if we had a tiny bit of luck we would have won. Personally dont think its much to worry about. Tomorrow will be interesting win that and its good signs

 

It wasn't luck we were short of it was 'nous' , don't remember us having any free kicks around the box in that second half onslaught, should have done a 'Grealish' and gone down if touched....

 

It was pretty brainless to just keep pumping in crosses from wide which their three tall CBs dealt with easily. I'm not advocating diving, but we have a number of good dribblers in our attack. It would have been worth trying some direct runs with the ball in and around the box to try to win free kicks or penalties. I know it was crowded, because they withdrew behind the ball, but it only takes one misplaced tackle to get a potentially game-winning penalty.
And a few shots from outside the box were worth a go too.

I think part of Derek's success as a manager is due to the clear and concise instructions he'll give the players. No "umming" and "aahing" straight to the point in the way he wants to play. Certainly no extravagancies like the "one million per cent" as favoured by a recent man in the hot seat! The players will be in no doubt as to their expected roles in each forthcoming game.
