Canavan and Staunton at centre back next season?

 

I wonder whether Canavan and Staunton could play together. I think they're both lefties.

 

Neither Crankshaw or Vernham are that switched on defensively. Watt's defensive mindset is just to stand in front of the cental defenders. Then when our central defenders naturally drop deep it means there's a big space in the centre for them.

We're better with the ball, we seem to know where everyone should be and pass it well but defensively without Canavan we don't have anyone to organise things. Everyone is too quiet or just not good enough to do it.

 

Good shout but either way we need another Canavan.

In other words,most of these players aren’t good enough.

 

Agreed we need a total clear out except Canavan, they’re all weak and have been pathetic and a big part of our downturn over the last 3 years. None of this maybe he’ll be good with someone better next to him crap, they’re just fecking shit. Parky made an entirely new back line in 12/13, something which we need to replicate.

 

Although were losing good first half football wise.

 

We are what we are. A bang average mid-table side.

 

I don't agree and you'd change most of the team as well which tells me the challenge is with the players more than the manager!

Canaan and Staunton are both left sided and are two slow to play together

 

First 14 minutes were good, we actually showed some energy and intent.

Back to usual since then mind. Whole team is about 10 yards too deep as per usual.

 

With the ball its been better and more balanced. Without the ball, its been atrocious. Its not even conference level defending. League 2 needs defenders who'd stick their head where others wouldn't stick their foot if they had steel toe capped boots. Ours don't win a header between em.

And Sutton is awful at right back. With this side, drop Evans to right back, Sutton right mid, Vernam on the left. That said, one of our most pressing summer transfer needs is a settlement for Evans. What a ridiculous transfer that was.
