Let's face it, Vernam and especially Cooke and Gillead aren't contributing enough in terms of goal involvement. It's not just down to a single player.

 

Cooke's really gone down hill the last couple of games. I think we new bodies in January, just to get players out of their comfort zone. Gillead must be laughing now Crankshaw has been sold.

 

Playing the lone role up front is soul destroying, unless you have the right attributes. Otherwise it certainly exposes a player's flaws. It'll be interesting what happens when Angol returns.

Going down memory lane, we haven't had a centre forward for years who would compare with the likes of McCole, Stokes, Green, Layne, Aimson, and Ingram. They were all lower league talent that produced the goods consistently, athough it helped they figured in a formation that played to their strengths. We'd sell one and have no difficulty in finding another effective replacement. All in stark contrast to this year's close season recruitment!!

 

All quality but don't forget Mr Campbell and Deano another two characters to add to the list.

 

Although not lower league, Mills was probably the best for me, him and Robbie, phorrrrrr.

I never said it was. Cooke is the highest provider of key passes li league 2 by some distance, not his fault the front line can't take advantage of that.

 

I think we have some players who are good enough but they're mostly down the spine of the team for example Cook Cooke O'Connor Canavan I don't think that's enough though to get promoted

For Cooke I think the wingers really need to start taking their chances and soon it's very frustrating at times watching Vernam miss the target 9 times out of 10 and Gilliead playing like a neat and tidy player in a position that should be providing a lot of danger for the opposition not just possession retention

There's definitely something to this squad but until we get competition back up front and can bring Songo'o into midfield I don't think we'll click just yet

 

How could I miss Bobby??!!. Deano, of course, played at a higher level for us. Bearing in mind, few from my original list, and Bobby, cost us a transfer fee.

 

You forgot Tony Leighton, With his teeth in the dressing room a smile from him and defenders quivered

 

Not many worked harder for the team than Tony...

 

Not to forget Joe Cooke . Good Centre Forward for City .

 

But he has "presence". So, that's ok.
