I completely agree with you, I’m just not sure where the investment is coming from and having seen absolutely nothing for the cup runs and transfer fees received over the years, I’m not sure of the ability for it to be spent wisely.

 

I think I trust Turnbull's judgement but it's how the management use any new signings. Personally I won't be happy if we play with only one up top when we play at home, whoever the manager is.

 

Rowe did but City got shut of him for that kind of mularkey.
Cook did but the managers sent him to the bench for the outrage.
Guthrie never did so we kept hold of him for as long as we could.
Donaldson?- can be relied on to miss an open net so City like him.

 

It's all about bringing in players that complement each other in a system that brings out their best.Lone guns and mavericks are risky additions in my view. I really hope that we don't just patch up our deficiencies ,such as the defence, but rebuild with players that can gel together.Bringing in someone to play along side another, who has a weakness, simply to bolster things up, is pointless. Again it's merely finding the right balance and chemistry for the squad. But we need a fair playing budget and an acute knowledge of the players available to improve us.We say it at the end of every season..we have to get it right this time around. (Hopefully)

 

And therein lies the problem with a 4231 in League Two. The two key players are the 9 & 10 and there just aren't enough around who will take what a L2 club pays to make it work.

Callum Cooke shows potential but he cant play the 10 as he cant shoot on target and Cook is a great 9 but needs a second striker. Both would be better in a different formation.

 

Well this game can go ahead thanks to all the staff testing 'negative' (think that includes T&S too)

 

Talking of Rowe, failed to score in first two appearances and not even in the squad at the weekend. Injured ? or have Chesterfield decided he is a bad egg after 2 games.

 

Started both Saturday & Monday for Chesterfield.

Shows how my interest in football has collapsed, completely overlooked his name on Saturday and did not look at the sky sports once yesterday, just stared out of my window at the rain and wind. Still more enjoyable than Saturday's match.
That will be none in four for Rowe then. Firing Chesterfield back into the league, or have we ruined another striker.
