FCD is contracted until 2024. He doesn't have to make a decision about whether to offer him a contract. He has probably already decided what he thinks of FCD as a young player needing development but with some promise and earning not a lot.

 

He can also go this summer as well. If we want to get out of this division we need someone at least close to the quality of a Davies or McArdle which POC is nowhere near and a consistent liability, be it a booking or mistake. Nowhere close to the level of a club captain.

If there’s a sliver of a silver lining…… Friday showed us a group of players with the right attitude and a hint of the right ability.

Today showed us a group that looked completely disinterested and not good enough.

OK, that’s over simplifying, because Cook shouldn’t be kept around and big question marks hang over Paudie, but Hughes will be learning plenty.

Come the summer, he’ll know exactly what’s needed. Whether he’ll be backed to recruit what’s needed is an altogether different story.
