You are right we don't win enough headers but I have to say a keeper the size of ROD should be commanding that area, he either claims it or he wins a free kick, that is his area.

 

Colchester will now believe they will win this, and they have more to lose than us. We need to attack, attack attack, otherwise we defend, defend and defend badly and will leak.

both goalkeepers are average league two keepers. Its alright saying we need better, but we are an average league two club. with an average squad , with its better players out injured. We are going no where fast and again need a major re- build in the summer. Goalkeeper , left back, right back , defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder , wingers and a pacy striker. Pretty hefty shopping list.

Yes there is. But there's also a blindingly obvious pattern - we keep conceding headed goals since R'OD came back in. Coincidence? I don't think so. R'OD has been appalling agianst crosses for the whole time he's been here.

 

Here's another stat for you

O'Donnell has had possession 16 times. He's punted it 14 and passed it out twice, both times around the 8th minute. Everything else has been a hefty hoof.

I’m with @JonButterfield on this. Our defence is very weak and seems to get beaten far too easily to balls in our box in the air. It happened last week and happened again today.
If the keeper comes shouts for it and the defence stop, but he doesn’t claim it, that’s on him. That hasn’t happened here. We had chance to win the first header and I think it was FCD who just fell over in front of him for an easy header.
Win the first ball and you cut out the problem. We seem incapable of doing that

 

We conceded that exact same goal with Hornby in goal against Carlisle.

Agree 9 times out of 10 a good keeper comes for a ball in that congested area wins the ball if not the referee blows for a foul on the keeper, poor keeping for me.

 

It’s a fair point re defenders however as a keeper you have to own that cross. Whether it’s dealing with it yourself or instructing those in front of you, when the ball is coming into your 6 yard box it has to be the keepers. It was a good back but not like was Beckham bending one in!!

Sorry, but your been far too kind to OD there. His error. He’s not confident with crosses, never has been and never owns his box.

 

Considering he is our captain his command of these situations is appalling.

We haven't won a defensive header all game, both Paudie and Canavan seriously need to up their performance levels. FCD is also getting caught every time and we look horrendous as a unit.

 

But why have we suddenly started losing headers? Paudie and Canavan were imperious in the air until the last few games. What has changed? Answers on a postcard please?

It's a ludicrous argument, and while you can see that, some on here rather bizarrely can't understand it.

 

Your right in the case of ROD but no defender gets close to the header. Issues in the back line too.

Yes, the one time it happened with Hornby in goal and he instantly got dropped for it. Since then R'OD has been flapping around like a beached fish but kept his place.
