The concept of variations on the "matter of ..." phrase is good, but the content needs work. Far too much of a rant, based on apparent personal dislike of the subject, and far too little identification, analysis, or constructive comment and criticism of the serious shortcomings of the subject's tenure to date. For example, recruitment, staff retention, and general philosophy would all be more fruitful themes for examination. The specific conclusions drawn about the subject seem also to arise more from personal dislike than incontrovertible evidence; as such, serious thought should be given to whether or not they are allowed to remain.

(One of the nice things about being retired is not having to read and mark essays which were just longer versions of this letter... And then one would read a genuine A+ work, and one's faith in students was restored!)

 

Had me interested and in agreement until the ' Simon Parker is a reporter of integrity' line.

It was a shite letter and should never have been posted.

We as a club are in a very dangerous situation at the moment. All the goodwill and positivity that had build over the last 5/6 years (including the first 18 months of Rupp and Rahic with McMall) seems to have completely disappeared after a bad 6 months. I can’t decide if there is a very vocal minority that want the board gone or if this is a more popular viewpoint. It seems crazy to me that fans are trying to push the owners out when 6 months ago things looked so good.

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, football is incredibly fickle and short term but even by the low standards set by the normal football fan it seems crazy. I genuinely believe the owners got a bit carried away and built expectations too high, added to that was the McCall factor. Had it been any other manager I don’t think the fans would have turned on the owners like they have. Open letters and the like just seems totally over the top.

I think we as fans need to be very careful about our actions over the next few months. Surely we just move on from this dismal 6 months, get a new manager in and start to support the manager, team, club and owners again. One bad transfer window is hardly enough to hold a permanent grudge

LOL, to use the language of today! That letter just reminded me too much of some of the over-enthusiastic but ill-considered works I had to read.

Fair play to R&R though if one or both are willing to meet with the letter-writer, because many (?most) would just toss it into the bin and dismiss the writer as just another crank.

I've been watching the #bcafc feed recently and if it does reflect our social media generally there's a small, vociferous and angry bunch of supporters making all the noise just now. I already have sympathy for a new manager coming in because the job has become a poisoned chalice and these fans won't allow him a "honeymoon period" to settle into his new role.

 

Clearly the WOTP has inside info.

Someone at the club is leaking info to them.

 

I also feel sorry for our new manager cos of the two clueless owner's he's somehow gonna have to try and successfully work with.

 

Y'know, given the reactions each of Jason, Stuart, and Edin elicit here and elsewhere, 'him' above could easily refer to any of them! But yes, rewriting for clarity would be another request to make of the writer. I suppose that it would be too obvious to point out that the letter is hardly unemotional, balanced, or analytical...

Agree in general that the writer's name should have been published; exceptions would include current employees of the club, who wish to remain employees.

That letter is a pile of shite and is an unnecessary overreaction to the season we have just endured.

I wonder what WOTP wanted to achieve by publishing the letter seeing as JM is becoming a regular on T'Pulse and they just LOVE City
