If I were a gambler I believe it’s more than likely that deals were done and dusted BEFORE this announcement today. Hey we will never know, however after last years Williams debacle ?

 

CC may let theirs though we can’t get a place in the 18?

 

If we are expecting Rupp to shell out for a top striker then it needs to be someone who can operate in the league above too as I very much doubt Cook who will be 35 when he’s fit again will play again for us.
A sad end really for a player who’s been our talisman for several years.

In all fairness would we have had him insured will the money be available before the Jan window closes sadly can't see Mr Rupp digging very deep nor Mr Gent unveiling a cut price improvement on Cook

 

Absolutely Gutted for Cook, it’s a tough injury to come back from. It’s a long road Ahead. Shearer took around 8 months to come back - hopefully Cook will do the same

 

It is a real shame for an absolute brilliant player in our team. Hope he recovers well and can return to the level he was at. However, the adopted style without Andy returned 5 goals in two games. We need someone who can hold the ball to bring others into play (ala Kavanagh) and contribute a few goals. It isn't a good position but the forced change may benefit us !!

 

Shearer was 22 at the time so would heal, recover and return much much quicker than Cookie who will be 35 in October. It’s not looking too good for him tbh. We have to be realistic with the poor lads age taken into account?

 

Feared the worst after seeing his reaction during the start of the Barrow game. Absolutely gutted for him. He loves scoring goals and goals for this club in particular as his last couple of interviews have showed. I'm sure he would have been close to, or actually in second place, on our all time scorers list either this season or end of his contract!!!

He's been absolutely brilliant for us. I hope he can recover and get some more football in before the end of his career.

A top, top striker at our level and we've been lucky to have him.

 

Gutted its that serious. Think he’d have gone second in our all time scorers list this season without the injury?
Hopefully he recovers well enough to see out his final year with us to try and press closer to Bobby.

Hopefully he’s at the games and the fans can chant a few for him as he’ll badly miss being involved, the character he is :-(

 

Not now he's had a taste of European football....he'll want at least Europa Cup next season

Thought that yesterday that it might be an issue which could be causing the “ announcement “ delay. I think you hit the nail on the head Rod. It just depends on the level of cover?
