With regards footballing ability Andy Cook is not in the same league as David Layne, there was never a doubt on seeing the man he would go on to play for England.
Going to Sheffield Wednesday was a massive move for him they were a very big club back in the day, finishing 2nd behind Spurs in the 2961/62 season.
As I posted @mickc@mickc I never thought I'd see in the modern game anyone coming near Bronco's 34 goal in one season, having said that I'd love to see Cook get another brace (or more) tonight against Carlisle.

We were lucky enough to sign Bronco because he wanted to be nearer his Sheffield roots. As you say he had a tremendous shot and, bear in mind, those leather balls were much heavier than todays "beach balls".

Another goal and assist for the big lad. Can't remember a time where i felt we had a player who could score every game.

It was a shame he didn't connect properly with that volley first half it would have been similar to his equaliser against Hartlepool.

He's eighth in the league for assists, i know he's getting the limelight for his goalscoring exploits but his allround game has improved beyond recognition. The turn in the first half where he dicked two defenders then getting the free kick, i mean where has that come from? At the moment he walks round the pitch like he owns it and the fans love him for it.

Maybe he's been on here reading @Fordy117@Fordy117 comments, I agree he looks like he will score every game.

Might be that rather than not fancying him MH has coached a bit of swagger into his game, maybe what he's seen in training over time has shown him there's a better player in him than he'd shown early doors. He's certainly a different player these days, bloody immense and seemingly unstoppable at this level

Think you could be right, in Cooks case Hughes can teach an old dog new tricks, and for me what he has shown recently we should be offering him a new contract no matter which league were in next season, Cook has earned it this eason.

When I watched him at Orient I genuinely thought he was done, his touch, awareness, everything looked like he was struggling. Now, he's doing everything you'd want from a no9 and given he's not the biggest or the quickest, something has brought stuff out in him I didn't think was there. Definitely worth another deal, hats off to the lad, he's made our season so far
