I love Andy Cook, already said for me he is the best goalscorer the club have ever had. But it's also a business, and we cant have our top earner not even making the bench.

In his cameos, he still has "something". He still has the presence with CBs to try mark him as tight as possible because of his threat and he occupied a line like nobody else we have up top. However, the legs just weren't there and it felt like you could get a good 20 out of him at best in my view.

I hope he finds a way to make an impact at Grimsby. But at 35 and coming off what can easily be a career killer of an injury and barely playing for over a year now, I fear those days are done. Not a chance he can play sat/tues when the fixtures pile up soon, maybe not even 90 too often. Hopefully it ends in promotion and he can end his career this summer (I'm guessing) with another medal in the cabinet at home.

With Cook it was just the style thing for me. Eoin Doyle was similar - knew where the net was but just became incompatible with the set up (in Cook’s case because we shifted the formation while he was injured). Sounds like Grimsby play with a front two and whip crosses in. He could have a field day given his aerial ability.

with City we need younger legs who are prepared to run themselves into the ground to lead the press. Joe Taylor would be the perfect signing snd secure automatic promotion…..but sadly a 35 legend recovering from a serious injury wasn’t the ideal man to lead the press.

we wish him well and hope he tears L2 to pieces…..

There is no need to complicate matters. Let's just thank Andy for the memories. I have been watching City since the Campbell years and through Parkinson miracles. Andy has made himself my favourite amongst all those I have seen. Fabulous goals and so many duels won against monster centre halves.

If only we could have had one goodbye. Alexander seems a nice chap - Andy would have added something if he had come on for the last 15 minutes in all of the recent games. Why not Graham? Maybe he was saving him for the Rotherham game. I hope the Grimsby fans give him their love

Always thought a fit and healthy Lee Novak could have done what Cook did for us. Injuries caught up with him.

He had 20 goals a season in him at L2 level.

He may not have been the player for us that he'd been elsewhere but what he and Beni Carbone did went a long way to securing our status as a football club, and for that both he and Beni have my respect.

Massively agree on Peter Thorne. Shame we got him so late in his career. An absolute fox in the box.

Think Simon Francis went for about 200k didnt he? Ended progressing through leagues and played in PL years later.

Andy Gray hurt. Think he went to blades for a five figure fee and a year or two later they sold him to Sunderland or whoever for over 1m. Proper had our pants down, Warnock.

Simon Francis' transfer was 'forced' on the club just before Admin 2. He went to Sheffield for something around £200k which was regarded as a bargain by many. At the time we were skint, trying hard to avoid insolvency and needed the cash urgently. It was a genuine fire sale imo and inevitable.

Francis had a great career at Bournemouth rising through the league's from League One in season 2010/11 to Premier League in 2015/16 with 287apperances.
On retiring he took over the local academy from ex-Bournemouth captain Harry Arter now named Simon Francis Academy then progressed to first-team technical director following the announcement of Richard Hughes' departure, Francis' was promoted to first-team technical director beginning the role in the summer.

The trouble with ward was he was always injured. He would come back starting to look good and was injured again

Or he didn't have the heart for a fight and preferred to spend his weekends on the sunbed that doubles as a sickbed and helping his wife do up posh homes.

Him and the likes of Lee Sharpe had no guts for working hard for Bradford City. Hated both of them in claret and amber and came away from games grinding my teeth at their lack of fight or desire.

Give me a Ron Futcher over them two weak wet w##k wage sponges every time
