At the fans forum - GA kinda denied there was a problem away from home if memory serves me.

He is extremely stubborn but most lower league managers are - which is why they remain lower league managers.

I don’t think its necessary to include all away form Broncs. We were underestimated in August and September and had Sarce, Bobby and Neufville all flying. Teams worked out how to nullify us, and those players have lost their form and been injured since.

the last six games was the time period defaulted on the form table I found, but it reflects where we are right now, and reflects the current troubles we’re having away - creating little.

Lincoln was horrific, Town was bad, Luton wasn’t as abominable but we still aren’t playing well, losing midfield battles and creating zilch.

it has been the toughest run that we could have hoped for but it does make me chuckle some fans were saying GA is better than Parky a few months ago.

GA goes to bed in Phil Parkinson pyjamas!

TBF PP and GA have had similar journeys - cup runs aside.

Despite the last month or so - GA has had us far more competeive in L1 at the first stab. Think PP finished midtable and had 1 win in 14 at one stage.

Both had their faults but both have their strengths too.

I was a big Phil Parkinson fan, he did the club and us fans proud taking us from a very poor League Two side to a club that was contesting for a place in the Championship plus of course those fantastic FA Cup and Carabao Cup runs, if Alexander can take us further actually getting us into the Championship he will have trumped Parky IMO, cup runs are great for looking back on with fond memories playing in a higher league is our bread and butter.

When you look at the estimated wages GA has them punching....that a longer term question of crowd, commercial m revenue still exists despite the annual rent.

Why wouldn't rovers and teams in the future look at him on this basis.

And that is the fundamental question, how does the rent factor impact us with 20k avg attendances vs the likes of Lincoln with 8-9k.
To what degree does it put off investors with deeper pockets?

A question perhaps for the off season but one that needs to be fundamentally addressed.

Agree wholeheartedly, however a major title final appearance is disruptive of that argument.

We lost the last game m8 don’t you know how it works. Tbf there has been some dire football recently, but let’s be honest this squad has well over achieved. Everyone on here would have taken 16th pre-season. He’s almost the victim of his own success. For those wanting him gone, maybe a little history lesson is in order. Last time we sacked a manager while in the league 1 playoffs can anyone remember what happened over the next 6 and a half years? We’ve gone through poor bouts of form both in terms of results and performances before, I trust us to come out the other side but I just don’t think we are good enough regardless of whose the manager to get into the playoffs over the 46 games. That’s just my opinion.

GA needs to stop the stubbornness and change the formation like most have said , put an extra body in midfield like Evans who can pass a ball to feet and play 2 up front.

Listen we can all pull him to bits but to put us in this posistion in just over 2 years is one hell of a job with the pressure that goes with it ............as for his faults if he didnt have them do you think that he would be anywhere near this level ????

Just show further how little the next manager odds mean Alexander is currently 16/1 for the Wigan job and the 10th favourite. I think everyone could name 20 managers who are more likely to get the job than Alexander.

I actually prefer Alexander to Parky,i thought a lot of Parkys games were boring and i remember coming away thinking, how the hell have we won that and the Swansea game was abominable,we didnt even put up a fight,in my opinion obviously, saying that. the Chelsea game was unbelievable

I am with you on this. I prefer GA even with his faults. Every single one of us have good points and bad points.

I welcomed the success that Parky brought to the club but there was something about him I didn’t like. GA is a different character altogether. He has also done wonders for this club. The last time I checked he is our manager and he is the one choosing the team. I don’t remember the fans choosing who plays on a Saturday afternoon or what formation. For those of you have been in a managerial position you may well take a sounding from staff but you make the decisions abc the buck stops with the manager.

I'm pretty much the opposite with GA, there's always been something about him i really don't like and watching us apart from the Fleetwood game last season and maybe the first 5 or 6 home games this season, we are a very boring football team to watch in person for the span of GAs reign in my eyes. I think the ending of last season really painted over some memory cracks, at home flat VP was last season and it has been for the last few months too. Games start and you hear a chant going for 5 or so minutes into a game and then the atmosphere completely ends until we score. Where i sit in the kop, if I look around after 10/15 minutes i see more people with their mobile out rather than getting involved in the game.

We had a great formula for the start of the season when it felt exciting and you were always moments away from a great pressing tackle or a quick ball in and a shot on goal, but the last few months it's been far too much hoofing it and a bit of head tennis.

It feels like we are on the verge of changing the system to me, just looking at the window. We lost 4 defenders in McIntyre, Byrne, Halliday & Richards, we brought 1 in Ashby. We lost 1 attacking midfielder in Leigh, brought in 3 in Jackson, White and Sibley. We swapped 2 strikers in Cook & Kav for Mullin & Wheatley then finally Pattison out and Evans in. On paper, we lost defenders but added attackers/wide players, it's completely brainless to still play 5 at the back and 1 up top if that's been the transfer plan.

I don’t disagree with your analysis of our play. I do hope he chooses a more attacking style, because it is so frustrating watching us at the moment. I hate the fact that all our good work at the start of the season is now being eroded. I don’t believe in this “overachievement tag” that is being applied. We have been sussed out, fair enough all part of the game, but we now have to come up with a plan of action.

Tactitions should always have a 'plan B', not out of desperation but out of necessity.
Our management/analysts must watch other teams before they play us but we seem to apply the same formation and tactics whatever the opposition.
GA says we are 'fluid' but I for one don't really see that much.

I try to avoid comparing a current manager with former ones as you always get recency bias, negative or positive as we are seeing here. Parky was with us 5 years and achieved a few remarkable feats. But to say the average league game wasn't dull as dishwater and the atmosphere wasn't flat is just lying to yourself. I can remember the 1 win in 21, and we broke the duck with a terrible game and win over Port Vale. The football and atmosphere were appalling. It's just modern day lower league football for you regardless of who's the manager. Only around 1 game in 5 okay and the rest are forgotten about the day after. What counts are the big moments and getting through those dull games with 3 points. I remember people saying Hughes was our worst ever manager, then Adams before and so on, now GA's football is worse than Parky's because it's more recent, nothing else.

Thank you for your outstanding post. Absolutely correct. I do remember the boring footie with Parky and that is probably influencing my view of him not least his departure.
