Gilliead is just a busy player with an engine. He’s never had end product and at this stage in his career, I doubt he’ll suddenly improve beyond where he is. He’s been given most roles on a pitch and been adequate without really excelling. For a side that needs to get out of this league we need quality. At 27 will Gilliead settle for a bit part role?

He's played a few different roles now at various clubs, was defensive type midfielder last season, at Scunthorpe he was further forward and more of a central role, when he first came to us he was used as a wide player. I'm pretty sure he's played over 150 games for us now. If he does leave it will be with the best of luck from me, the lad has never let the club down, whoever he ends up with is getting a decent lad on and off the field

I was one of Gilliead's biggest critics, especially during Adams tenure at the club, but I see what he brings to the team. He leaves everything on the pitch, puts a shift in every week. If his technical ability was just a bit better and he was willing to shoot more often, he'd be in a league above. If he does leave, it will be a shame to see him go. But he is replaceable. Lets see how it pans out

An average of a goal every 3.9 games from midfield would be an excellent return. Damn that decimal point.

All I ever hear is "yeah, but it's not his natural role".

Well, he's played as a winger, a number 10, central midfield, defensive midfielder, wingback and rightback and all in all, he's been average at the very best in every single one.

Perhaps he just needs a shot at being a keeper and we'll see a very different player.

The bigger issue is that his assist stats will be incredibly similar. For someone who's played higher up the pitch more often than not, without being rude, they're abysmal.

This is exactly why we've brought 2 new midfielders in. I suspect Hughes would like him to stay as he's dependable and can't fit a number of roles. But as I've said before that utility tag means you can't nail down a regular position, Sutton had the same problem. I can see a number of clubs being interested in a player that can do that, unfortunately for him we needed better in those central roles. Pattison has 18 in the last two seasons according to google, just what we've been missing.

I personally think Gilliead will stay, I think he’s been a offered a one year deal though and that’s what’s taking him so long to decide on.

Alex has known Chappers since they were 7 years old and they played together at Middlesbrough for years and know each other's game inside out. This could be one hell of a signing if he brings out the best in Harry as well.

If that's true I'm assuming our latest offer is much reduced and would explain his delay in wanting to look around.

And he scores goals and provides plenty of assists. Gillead had a good end to the season generally, but he's never offered us that.

Sergio, I like Gillead. He put in a real shift towards the end of the season and was ever-reliable. But he's never given us that 'value-added' that could have helped push us on into the automatics. His continuing lack of goals and assists talks of a player who's all-round good but not impactful and game-changing. Pattison is. Very pleased with this signing - and with McDonald. I know a couple of Exeter fans and they're heart-broken he's not staying in the South West - they're reckon that 34 is just an age. He's still totally got it and is a class or two above L2.

Couldn't agree more Fordy! Why didn't we sign Mason Mount? Oh God, I've just woken up. We're in League Two. So my old talent spotting friend, who would have better, within the reality of where are our club is at, that would have been a better signing that Pattison?
