Walsall will be getting the treatment room ready for him.

Conflicted with this one. Early in his Coty career Pattison was willing to take players on, had a turn of pace and operated as a genuine box-to-box midfielder. As time went on he seemed to lose a lot of the flair that made him effective and evolved into a more workmanlike, archetypal grafter that you typically see in the lower leagues. Injuries likely played a part, but I don’t think he’s been anywhere near as effective recently as we know he can be. All in all probably the right decision to get rid, although it’s absolutely imperative now that we find a suitable replacement. Our current midfield options outside the 1st 11 are looking very scarce.

I think Sibley is intended to be that replacement.

Good luck to Alex. Very good player who's unfortunately been hampered by injuries. I can't understand why he hasn't been involved in our squads recently given that he's been fit though.

Probably didn’t want him injured if a deal was lined up

So he's fit and they can move him on. Didn't want another hammie going for a couple of months and then have him on the payroll till 30 June

If Walsall can keep him fit , then they are getting a quality player for lg.2
    I wish him well

    All the best to him.

Played his part last year and on his day one of our more enjoyable players to watch over the last few years.

But there's a reason he's been let to within six months of being at this level. Stupidly hard to keep fit and tactical indiscipline. That being said, a very good L2 player and I'm sure he'll do a job for Walsall.

He's ineffective in a L1 promotion chasing team who play a 3/4/3, i.e. us. He's brutally exposed in the middle with that system and what was positive about him, i.e. his surging attacking runs - became negated by often getting either caught of position or in possession. His strength was exploiting low block defences with those runs. His problem is, L1 has hardly any of them.

Even last season when we were playing front footed teams, i.e. Swindon (perhaps forgive him we were down to ten), but Notts and Donny - he was found wanting quite a lot and was part responsible for at least two goals we conceded.

However, he's the victim of the position we find ourselves in and I'll always remember him as a great signing. He was the one who thwarted the low block. defences that L2 is full of, i.e. we ain't scoring against Accrington without his nounce.

Best of luck to him and I hope Walsall make it, particularly after the abuse their manager got after last season.

Spot on with the "tactical indiscipline". We saw that, even at the end of last season, when we played the better teams.

But he played a massive part in that run and so he'll always be highly thought of

I don't get your "we made his body collapse" comment

He got injured early in the 2nd season of the Hughes regime. He then didn't play - GA significantly refused to risk him at the end of that season, even when we had an outside chance of the play-offs.

He got injured again early last season. Again GA didn't rush him back. Then he got appendicitis!!

And note he made 37 appearances last season, which was only two less than his second season at Harrogate
