I'm really hoping Jonesy will surprise us and score 10-15 goals this season.If he keeps injury free we could see a late reward for our patience.

 

Interesting how Charlie Wyke is now 'over rated' by some on here yet Alex Jones, who has shown little, is going to be like a new signing. All opinions i guess.

 

Yeah, but you have to inflate yours first!, mate!

 

Certainly like to see him get an extended run in the team and see what he can offer.

Fordy's right. We should be signing Henderson, Cahill (he's not doing anything) and Kane

Having said that most Liverpool fans said that Henderson was 'shi&e' after his first two seaons and he was largely injury free - so maybe not him

 

He's definitely going then? Last time I looked Bolton were considering offering £1m - which in my mind is a bit different

 

No idea, but if I was a betting man...........

 

I wouldn't be betting on him going to Bolton ..

 

We always need better as we should always aim to improve but at the moment we also have a lot worse.

 

This might not be a popular view but I just don't get the Alex Jones love-in. I genuinely hope he is over his injuries and proves me wrong, but he is too slow and a bit lightweight in my opinion

 

Agree. He is too lightweight for me and his best position isn’t up top, although he says it is. Probably best coming in off the wing.

 

Did alright for Vale cutting in from the wing.

 

Had a long conversation with the Vale owner back in January. At that time they would have him back in a heartbeat, "lovely lad, good footballer, sorry to loose him".
We talked about his injury problems with us, "never an issue with us, we'd take him back tomorrow ". Perhaps he needs a good pre season, personally I think if that happens we could have the equivalent of a new signing.

 

One of his best games for us away at Scunny.. and he did just that.

 

He knows where the net is.
The season he joined us he had the highest goals to minutes played ratio in Lge 1, split betwwbe Port Vale and us. He also played well alongside Charlie in the few matches they got up front together.
Last season, before his injury, he was briefly played up on his own as a target man and was hopeless. That is clearly not his game - he's not a back to goal player.
It's too soon to write him off. If he stays fit and is played correctly he could yet be a good player for us.

 

I see the annual burst of close season Fordy negativity has begun early.
The man couldn't predict Christmas.

 

I'm hoping the lad is clear of his injuries and that if presented the opportunity to play regularly, that he does kick on otherwise he may get to play for a team languishing in the bottom half of league 2.
