Curious, what past mistakes are those? If we’d gone with a 1 year deal policy then we’d have lost Lewis this summer for nothing. The risk is minimal as most players aren’t on a lot and can be loaned out or let go for free if it doesn’t work out. It’s rare that we’re stuck paying someone who isn't playing and is on big wages for a long term contract.

 

I don't think it is the end 3/5 at the back. I think we will be more flexible this season, sometimes using the new system and sometimes last season's set up, which worked quite well away from home.

Lets see how he fares. I've said for a while we need to be more creative when signing players. What concerns me, is that we're historically poor at this type of signing, and others at this level seem to have a much better record at identifying talent from non-leagues, and leagues such as the welsh league. So I'm skeptical, because my instinct is that if he were any good, another club with proven routes into such leagues would have had him. But lets see, you never know. I'd still like to see us bring in more firepower.

 

Reasonable to suggest you are right to be sceptical, but did for example Peterborough fans slag all those new recruits off before they even kicked a ball in anger? There are many examples without looking where they have pulled players from non league obscurity after being released by Prem Academy’s. The latest centreback after playing a handful of games for Barnet is said to be worth megabucks . Did Posh fans say he must be crap because nobody else has picked him up playing those handful of games?
We can live in hope that it might pay off one day, but to rule it out is unwise until we see for ourselves surely FB?

 

Might have been, but Wiki says that he's 5'8 and I'm sure the player I was thinking about was closer to five foot than that! Came from non league with loads of goals similar to Hannah, but didn't make the grade. Sounds like Neilson also thinks he's bigger than he is. Wonder if his mug shot will be similar to Trumps?

 

That's the fella!! I was thinking Diddy David something! Wiki says 5"7 but no way is that true. Seems he banged them in when playing non league. I guess the heights of League football were too much for him.
