It was a bit crap.

I was pretty angry mostly because I felt it was embarrassing to start the season like that.

But it's Monday now.

I'm well over it and looking for a response tomorrow night.

 

That's not how football works, though.

That's just how football works in the fans' minds - whatever the last performance was like is all they can see. A stretch of form? It can't end, good or bad, and it's a shock when it's done.

But we've been following this sport for long enough now to know better than that.

 

There's no way of saying "he hasn't learned from last season" when he's gone in a totally different direction.

You're speaking like he went out and did the exact same thing.

We clearly didn't do that.

 

Lets give it ten games then eh but in all my years watching city the only dramatic change in fortunes have come about when we've been getting lucky results and playing badly or getting beat but playing well. I'm worried after Saturday's display. Like I say, we'll check in again late September when we are in 14th place. I'll keep my powder dry till then.

 

Sounds good, let's be honest, I'm expecting autos this season.

Not just hoping, expecting.

I'm not going to be happy if we've got 10 points after 10 games, so while I'm effectively calling for calm in the aftermath of a dreadful opening result, I'm also not going to tolerate failure this season.

This isn't a "we're doing well/we're doing badly" argument, and I won't need reminding after 10 games if we've been trash and Hughes gets sacked, because I'll either be calling for his resignation or I'll be demanding an immediate improvement.

This ref reckons the red card was harsh, which I agree with. Doesn't excuse the overall performance though.

 

Read the report on their match with Salford very unlucky not to win they hit the woodwork 4 times. I think they were underestimated
